The ASDC Dima Hasao District Committee, ASDC Mahila Sangathan, Dimasa Students’ Union and Dimasa Women Society sponsored 60 hours Dima Hasao Bandh starting from 5 am of June 5-7, 5 PM which evoked spontaneous and total passed off peacefully.
These organizations were demanding 1. Immediate release of Mohet Hojai, Former Chief Executive Member, Dima Hasao Autonomous Council. 2. Immediate withdrawal of NIA cases against Mohet Hojai, 3. Regular Payment of salaries to ‘Normal Employees’ of Dima Hasao Autonomous Council, 4. immediate clearance of gratuity of all the retired ‘normal employees’ and against the imposition of TET in sixth scheduled area.
From the very 1st day no vehicle was seen on the road. The police have been deployed at vulnerable places. Some of the offices including D C Office, S P Office and Dima Hasao Autonomous Council Office remained open but with thin attendance. All the traders kept their shutters down during the 60 hours bandh.
Meanwhile the Deputy Commissioner held a meeting with the ASDC officials on Wednesday requesting to withdraw the Bandh. But the ASDC leaders while appreciating the District Administration expressed their inability to withdraw the bandh since the District Administration failed to assured the agitating organizations.
