People are happy that goodwill mission evokes positive response in Udalguri district.While the Kokrajhar, Chirang and Dhubri districts had been under the grip of communal flare ups, insecurity feeling even after the Prime Minister’s recent visit and packages announced by him to compensate the avarage loss of life and property along with the Chief Minister of the state,the good will mission launched by Udalguri district administration along with the social organisations like Udalguri district Bodo Sahitya Sabha, Udalgurii district Sahitya Sabha, ABSU, AAMSU and All India Santhali Parishad has been evoking positive response in keeping the environment of communal peace and harmony in the region since last week in every nook and corner of the district.The good will mission team led by Thaneswar Malakar,DC of Udalguri district visited Tangla, Kalaigaon, Panery, Mazbat, Rowta and Dalgaon areas under Udalguri district from July 25 last and spread the message of communal harmony.
In a mmeting held near Bechimari on July 28 last, Zakir Hussain, education secretary of All Assam Minority Students’ Union (AAMSU ) sang the immortal song of Dr. Bhupen Hazarika on focussing on communal harmony and appealed to the people of the region to live peacefully keeping mutual understadning with each other. The meet presided over by Thaneswar Malakar, DC of Udalguri was also addressed by Dipen Boro, adviser of ABSU, Udalguri district committee, Buddhiram Boro, president of Udalguri district ABSU, Neelakanta Goyary, president of Udalguri district committee of Bodo Sahitya Sabha, Manik Sarmah, president of Udalguri district committee of Asom Sahitya Sabha and Benjamin Soren, adviser of All India Santhali Parishad.
