DHAC concerned over border tense
The Executive Committee of the Dima Hasao Autonomous Council (DHAC), expressed its grave concern over the disturbing situation arising out of the forceful and illegal collection of house taxes from the villagers of the eastern border areas of the Dima Hasao district comprising Wajao, Diger constituencies and other adjoining areas, by the anti-social forces and extremist groups coming from across the border of Nagaland and Manipur states, disclosed Sri Kalijoy Sengyung, EM i/c Education etc. and Spokesperson, Dima Hasao Autonomous Council in a press meet held at the CEM's Conference Hall of the DHAC Secretariat, Haflong on Saturday in presence of Samuel Changsan, MAC and Spokesperson , and Kulendra Daolagupu, MAC,Dima Hasao Autonomous Council.
Addressing the media persons Sri Sengyung said the Executive Committee of the DHAC which was presided over by Shri Debojeet Thaosen, the Chief Executive Member, DHAC strongly condemned all such anti-social and extremist activities which create constant fear psychosis among the common people and disturbs peace and tranquility in the district. The Executive Committee felt that this kind of anti-social and terrorist activities was a serious threat to the social and democratic fabric of the district and it must be contained at any cost. Therefore, in the context of the prevailing situation in the eastern border areas of the Dima Hasao district, the Executive Committee resolved to move the higher authorities for taking stringent actions to contain the revival of extremist and anti-social activities in the district.
Mentionable, of late, a Council delegation has met Shri Jayanta Narayan Chowdhury, Director General of Police (DGP), Assam and apprised him of the situation prevailing in the entire Dima Hasao district including eastern border of the district and urged him to take strong measures. Further, the Executive Committee of the Dima Hasao Autonomous Council expressed its keen desire to get the Council Elections conducted within its due time, before the expiry of its present term.
Answering the quarries of the media persons Samuel Changsan, MAC of the border area said the DHAC is always committed for the all round development of these area but for any kind of development, peaceful environment is prerequisite while Kalijay Sengyung disclosed that the DHAC was not aware about the ‘Border area Development Fund’ since said fund remains with the Deputy Commissioner.

The Chief Executive Member, Dima Hasao Autonomous Council Sri Debojeet Thaosen inaugurated a 125 HP electric water pump at Songpijang pump house on Monday in presence of Sri Kulendra Daolagupu, MAC, DHAC others PHE Officials.
It is learnt that the people of Haflong have been experiencing acute water crisis due to non-availability of water at the sources. The Dima Hasao Autonomous Council has been giving top priority to water supply and to solve the water problem the DHAC has taken mega project in its additive plan recently.
Talking to the media CEM Thaosen disclosed that the DHAC is trying hard to supply water uninterrupted and in quick interval.
To provide relief materials and assistance to the villagers, Dilip Nunisa, Chairman, DHD along with DHD leaders visited Kolaidisa village of Dima Hasao on Sunday where 15 houses were burnt due to jungle fire on Thursday last.
Mention may be made that the 15 houses including APBn camps in village Kolaidisa, some 70 km from Maibang located at the Assam – Nagaland border were burnt due to jungle fire in which the entire populace have lost their all the belongings. At present they are sheltered under trees, but none from the administration could reach the village till date for the reason best known to them.

Khupgouhen Hengna, s/o Late Ralzothang Hengna (R.Kuki Retired ABI) of Songpijang village, by some policemen (PSO) at UBI ATM Counter, Haflong on Saturday 6:30pm stated a press release issued by KSO. In the incident, the Policemen mercilessly knocked, punched and hit him on his head, stomach and body just when he came out of the ATM counter. He was found seriously injured as such he was taken him to Haflong Police Station, from where admitted him to Haflong Civil Hospital for medical treatment later and is still there.

Tension is running high in Langting area of Dima Hasao following the recovery of almost decomposed body of Swapan Paul aged 32 in jungle between Langting and Dihakho, who was kidnapped by some unidentified miscreants on the night of February 28th from Langting area, 110 KM from Haflong at a time when the district is still having several security agencies.
Shocked and irate entire populace of Langting area gheraoed the Langting police station and kept the entire business establishment closed.
