DHAC concerned over border tense
The Executive Committee of the Dima Hasao Autonomous Council (DHAC), expressed its grave concern over the disturbing situation arising out of the forceful and illegal collection of house taxes from the villagers of the eastern border areas of the Dima Hasao district comprising Wajao, Diger constituencies and other adjoining areas, by the anti-social forces and extremist groups coming from across the border of Nagaland and Manipur states, disclosed Sri Kalijoy Sengyung, EM i/c Education etc. and Spokesperson, Dima Hasao Autonomous Council in a press meet held at the CEM's Conference Hall of the DHAC Secretariat, Haflong on Saturday in presence of Samuel Changsan, MAC and Spokesperson , and Kulendra Daolagupu, MAC,Dima Hasao Autonomous Council.
Addressing the media persons Sri Sengyung said the Executive Committee of the DHAC which was presided over by Shri Debojeet Thaosen, the Chief Executive Member, DHAC strongly condemned all such anti-social and extremist activities which create constant fear psychosis among the common people and disturbs peace and tranquility in the district. The Executive Committee felt that this kind of anti-social and terrorist activities was a serious threat to the social and democratic fabric of the district and it must be contained at any cost. Therefore, in the context of the prevailing situation in the eastern border areas of the Dima Hasao district, the Executive Committee resolved to move the higher authorities for taking stringent actions to contain the revival of extremist and anti-social activities in the district.
Mentionable, of late, a Council delegation has met Shri Jayanta Narayan Chowdhury, Director General of Police (DGP), Assam and apprised him of the situation prevailing in the entire Dima Hasao district including eastern border of the district and urged him to take strong measures. Further, the Executive Committee of the Dima Hasao Autonomous Council expressed its keen desire to get the Council Elections conducted within its due time, before the expiry of its present term.
Answering the quarries of the media persons Samuel Changsan, MAC of the border area said the DHAC is always committed for the all round development of these area but for any kind of development, peaceful environment is prerequisite while Kalijay Sengyung disclosed that the DHAC was not aware about the ‘Border area Development Fund’ since said fund remains with the Deputy Commissioner.

There was an explosion on railway track near Tunnel no 11 at Mahur last night caused minor damage to the railway line. It is learnt that a bomb was planted on the railway track and exploded at about 10.30 PM yesterday. The Deputy Commissioner Dima Hasao District Shri Dilip Borthakur, I.A.S. and ADC. Shri Khanindra Chowdhury, ACS ceremonially flagged off the Chief Minister Gyanjyoti Programme/2011 at Circuit House Haflong at 7 A.M on 19TH October, 2011. Miscreants burnt down at least 16 houses of Gaijen village under Haflong police Station this morning at about 4 AM on Sunday and killed one 90 years old deft man Thangsiring Daolagupu injuring 3 other persons of the village.
