Home Coming ceremony of DHD on March 9

As the cadres, PROs and Civil Staffs of Dima Halam Daogah (DHD) are prepared for joining the national mainstream to lead a peaceful life ahead following the signing of MoS between DHD and Governments both at Centre and State on last October 8, 2012 at New Delhi, a grand public meeting as ‘Home Coming Ceremony’ has been slated to be held on March 9th next at District Sports Association’s ground at Haflong.

 It is learnt that the ‘Home Coming Ceremony’ would be graced by Sri Sushil Kumar Shinde, Union Home Minister, Govt of India as the Chief Guest while Sri J B Patnaik, Governor of Assam and  Sri Tarun Gogoi, Chief Minister, Assam would attend as the Special Guest of Honour.

Besides, Sri Himanta Biswa Sarma, Minister of Education, Health etc., Assam Shri Hagrama Mohilary, Chief of Bodoland Territorial Council Sri Chandan Brahma, Minister of Transport, DRDA, Tourism etc. Assam Sri Khorsing Engti.Minister of HAD, Veterinary etc. Assam Sri Bidya Sing Engleng Parliamentary Secretary Planning and Development, Assam Sri Sangsuma Khungur Bismuthiary MP (Lok Sabha) Sri Biren Sing Engti MP (Lok Sabha) Sri Biswajit Daimary MP (Rajya Sabha) Sri G. C. Langthasa, MLA. Haflong, Assam Sri Sambhu Singh, Joint Secretary, MHA, Govt. of India Sri Jayanto Narayan Choudhury, DGP, Assam Sri Khagen Sharma, ADIGP (SB), Assam, Sri Bimal Gurung, Chief of Gorkha Territorial Council, Darjeeling, Sri Debojeet Thaosen, Chief Executive Member, Dima Hasao Autonomous Council and Sri Milon Sonowal Chief Executive Member, Sonowal Kachari Autonomous Council, who would attend the ceremony as the Guest of Honour.

Meanwhile, Sri Dilip Nunisa, Chairman, Dima Halam Daogah appealed to the people living in Dima Hasao irrespective of caste, creed and religion to extend their much needed co-operation to them so that all the DHD members could lead a peaceful and find place in the society as a responsible member.

The Dima Halam Daogah was formed in 1994 after the surrender of Dimasa National Security Force and in 2003 came under ceasefire following appeals from several civil societies and intellectuals. After coming under the ceasefire, DHD had several rounds of talks with both central and state with the demand of creation of ‘Dima Raji State’, on October 8, 2012, a historic Memorandum of Settlement was signed with both the factions of DHD, and according to the MoS, the DHD had to dissolve within six months of the signing of MoS, thus, with the ‘Home Coming Ceremony’, the DHD would also be dissolved.

Passengers stranded for hours as train derails

11th North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council election passed off peacefully

With the casting of 80% plus of votes in the polling to the 11th North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council election passed off peacefully and with great enthusiasm among the people of Dima Hasao District. Right from the morning 7 am, people were seen in long queue at almost all the polling stations in and around Haflong. In the morning casting of votes was 27 % which increased gradually. Power tariff hearing on Saturday

Dima Hasao election: 1st Poll party left Haflong

Though there have been reports of road block in few areas due to yesterday’s incessant rain, but the polling officials are seemed to be very enthusiastic in regards to the election to the 11th North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council slated to be held on May 20.
