Amid watertight security arrangement polling in Koliabor constituency is holding to decide on the fate of 13 candidates on Monday.Polling began at 7 in the morning to end at 4 in the afternoon in 1772 booths heavily guarded by over 5,000 security me. Altogether 14,42,886 voters will exercise their franchise. Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi’s son Gaurav Gogoi is contesting with Congress ticket who is facing keen contest with former MP and AGP candidate Dr Arun Sarma.
Altogether 11,16,930 voters are exercising their franchise in Dibrugarh constituency where Lok Sabha polling began at 1,5,35 booths from 7 in the morning.Altogether 345 booths have been sensitive while 143 booths have been identified as hyper sensitive.The voting will decide on the fate of 6 candidates who are locked in a triangular contest AGP, Congress and BJP.Congress candidate and Union minister Pawan Singh Ghatowar is facing a keen contest with his BJP counterpart Rameswar Teli while AGP candidate Anup Phukan is also powerful in some pockets. The voting will end at 4 in the afternoon and counting would take place on May 16.

Security forces are fanning across the state on Monday in view of ULFA foundation day on Monday.Policemen and para military forces are heavily guarding the vital roads, bridges, oil and gas installations to thwart any ULFA sabotage on the foundation day.ULFA militants have hoisted flags in the wee hours in several districts to be seized by police in the morning.Maximum alert has been sounded in the five Lok sabha constituencies where voting is underway from 7 in the morning.

Police and Election Commission’s flying squad conducted a search operation at Mani Kumar Subba’s residence in Tezpur on Sunday a day after the independent candidate was admitted to the Medanta City Hospital in Gurgaon.The search team suddenly arrived at Subba’s Chandmari-based residence in Tezpur at 1 in the afternoon. The search operation continued for 2 hours when his daughter Tara Subba was at her home.But his supporters said that Subba is going to be victim of political conspiracy. After being denied ticket from his own party, the three time MP is contesting from Tezpur as independent candidate.
