Very happy to know that the association is continuing to do well and growing. I had the privilege of being the President of the association around 1981-82 when I was a Professor of IIT-Madras ( now Chennai). During Assam Movement, we published the Brahmaputra Beckons. Amid watertight security arrangement polling in Koliabor constituency is holding to decide on the fate of 13 candidates on Monday.Polling began at 7 in the morning to end at 4 in the afternoon in 1772 booths heavily guarded by over 5,000 security me. Police and Election Commission’s flying squad conducted a search operation at Mani Kumar Subba’s residence in Tezpur on Sunday a day after the independent candidate was admitted to the Medanta City Hospital in Gurgaon.The search team suddenly arrived at Subba’s Chandmari-based residence in Tezpur at 1 in the afternoon. The search operation continued for 2 hours when his daughter Tara Subba was at her home.But his supporters said that Subba is going to be victim of political conspiracy. After being denied ticket from his own party, the three time MP is contesting from Tezpur as independent candidate.
