In a tragic incident this morning at Teliapathar, Moran 2 children Namita Gogoi (10 years) and Munu Gogoi (9 years) respectively died on the spot when a broken wall of a culvert has fallen off on them. Munu's brother Bimal Gogoi (12 years) is also seriously injured in the incident who has been was rushed immediately to Assam Medical College, Dibrugarh and in critical condition.

Education tour

As part of its drive to create awareness and improve infrastructure, the army has been undertaking various projects under operation 'sadbhavana'. 287 field regiment of 2nd mountain artillery brigade under the aegis of DAH DIVISION has taken up an educational-cum-excursion tour of 10 students and 2 teachers belonging to rural and backward areas of Sibsagar district of Assam to Hyderabad and Secunderabad. As a part of 'Operation Sadbhabana' Army 2nd mountain arty Brigade, Dah Division organized a free Medical camp at Dihingmukh in Sivasagar district on sunday. The camp provided facilities of general health check-up, free medicines, health awarness regarding common diseases and motivated local youth to join defence forces. More than 1000 local people take the opportunity. C.O Col. D Jayachanda, Major Subramonium, Major S.K Sahu, Captain Dr. Prasant Patil, captain Dr.Sourav Agarwal was present at teh camp as resource person. The camp as innugurated by village headman Tikheswar Tao.

Foundation Day of Nitaipukhuri Hamchandra Dev Goswami College observed

The historic and a front line educational institute of Sivasagar district Nitaipukhuri Hamchandra Dev Goswami College has observed its 45th of Foundation Day on July 1. AASU Demow unit felicitates meritorious students

AASU Demow unit felicitated more than 90 students who secured 1st division in the recent HSLC and HS examinations at Demow Block Development Hall on June 8. All of them were given a certificate and a book. Sivasagar ADC Jugesh Boruah, and other prominent personalities of the area Anil Kr Dey, Mahendra Dutta, Lohit Saikia, Naranath Chetia were presents as guest of honour.

Demow girl Dikshya stood 11th in HSLC

Dikshya Gogoi, dauther of Dulen and Depa Konwar Gogoi of Demow, stood 11th in the recent HSLC examination. She was a student of Soffy Marcy school, Sivasagar. She scroed a total of 558 (93%) Advance Mathematics 97, English 96, Mathmatics 95, Social Studies 90, Assamese 82, Science 98.

Dharna at Demow BDO office

Behottor Assamiya Yuva Manch, Demow (Sukanpukhuri committee) staged a dharna on Tuesday in front of the BDO office of Demow demanding the arrest of 3 corrupted Junior Engineers of the block. Unmeasurable corruptions and misuse of government funds have been reported. The organisation has demanded enquiry and punishment of the corrupt officials.

National Integration Camp at Demow

Nehru Yuva Kendra, Sivasagar district unit, with support from Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs, has been organised a National Integration Camp at Demow Rajsai stadium from February 23. The event will end on March 1. More than two hundred delegates from all over the north-east has been participating in the event.

ULFA cadre arrested at Demow

Demow police arrested one hardcore ULFA cadre Tulon Deori @ Pralash Deori, a resident of Borpothat Deori Gaon, under Nitaipukhuri, today at around 6:30 pm.
