JK Borgohain passes away

Veteran journalist, prolific writer and socio economic and political analyst Jatindra Kumar Borgohain passed away on Wednesday following a brief illness.

Borgohain died two died at the Hayat Hospital at around 2-50 in the afternoon two days after he was rushed to it following a serious ailment. Despite best “possible” treatment, he failed to recuperate. He was 72.

Borgohain, who hailed from Jakhalabandha area in Nagaon district started his career of service as an assistant professor of economics in JB College. In 1992, he came to Guwahati and joined as editor wioth a vernacular daily. Since then, he served several media houses. He further joined as  editor in chief with a city based news channel.  A pall of gloom descended as soon as the news of his demise spread like wild fire.

Chief minister Tarun Gogoi along with many other political and non political leadersand organizations expressed deep shock at his demise.

Uncertainty still over NRC draft date

NEW DELHI: The uncertainty over the draft of national registrar of citizens refuses to due down if the project nodal officer's report before the Supreme Court is to be believed. Nodal officer of the entire ongoing exercise Pratik Hajela told the apex court bench comprising Justice Ranjan Gogoi, Justice F Nariman that 123 crore documents are still lying for verification. APSC scam: APS officer surrenders in Guwahati

APSC scam: 14 day police remand for arrested officers

A special court in Guwahati has remanded 12 ACS, APS and allied service officers to 14 days police custody hours after they were arrested charging them with resorting to forgery in the state civil service examination.  The special court listened to the police who sought them in their remand to probe into the serious charges against them. “Since the charges are serious in nature. Wanted ACS officer surrenders

Police have arrested yet another  ACS grade 1 junior officer wanted in connection with the job for cash scam has surrendered before police hours after police nabbed altogether 12 others.  Identified as Daithun Basumatary, he rushed to the Assam Police Battalion headquarters in Kahilipara where hd surrendered before the investigating officers.  Police have been intensifying search operations against the remaining accused including the relative of Union minister Rajen Gohain.  The ACS grade 1 junior officers include Pallabika Sarma Chaudhury, Dipak  Khanikar, Debojit Bora, Himangsu Chaudhury and Anirudh Roy.
