Actor joins TMC

Noted film actor Biju Phukan joined Trinamool Congress in presence of Mamata Banerjee at a function in Guwahati on Wednesday.

Phukan, who once contested the assembly polls from AGP told the TMC boss that he was prepared to fight the polls.

People thronged in thousands at the sarusajai Stadium to attend the TMC rally where Mamata Banerjee drew appreciation.

Ms. Banerjee clarified, while addressing a party rally in Guwahati, that Trinamool Congress was a part of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance government when it was headed by Atal Bihari Vajpayee but her party would not support any party that incites communal violence and hatred on the basis of religion, caste, creed or community.

Two  person were killed and over 30 others sustained injury when a powerful explosion hit a crowded place in Dibrugarh district on Sunday. Chief minister Tarun Gogoi has ordered magisterial inquiry into it the allegations of torture inflicted on a blind student in Nagaon two months after the incident where the room mates forced the 14 year old boy to drink his urine.The incident took place on September 26 in the Sreemanta Sankar Mission Barhampur Blind School where Deba Tati from Tezpur was allegedly forced to drink urine by his room mates. Not only that the room mates tried to strangulate the boy with a bed sheet on that day accused him of passing urine in the room. CBI is all set to quiz two Congress legislators in between Monday to Wednesday in connection with the Saradha scam. BJP leader Dr Subramaniam Swamy strongly advocates amendment in the Assam Accord to force Bangladesh to take back its immigrants. Addressing a press conference in Guwhati on Saturday, the veteran BJP leader said that the Accord was outdated that it should be amended.
