Kokrajhar Dance Academy Shines at International Competition, 20 Students Selected for Mumbai Festival

KOKRAJHAR, August 7, 2026 — Kokrajhar Nritya Kala Academy has brought laurels to the district with an impressive performance at the Sanskriti Sangam 2026 International Dance and Music Competition, held at Jyoti Chitraban Studio in Kahilipara, Guwahati.

The academy's young performers secured several honours in the dance category, earning appreciation for their talent, discipline and dedication.

To celebrate the achievement, the academy organised a felicitation programme in which 32 award-winning students were honoured with traditional phulam gamosas. The event recognised the students' hard work and the efforts of their teachers and mentors.

In another achievement, 20 students from the academy have been selected to participate in the 4th International Mumbai Carnival Festival, where they will represent the institution and showcase the cultural heritage of Assam and the Bodoland region.

Addressing the felicitation programme, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Shubham Sinha congratulated the students, teachers and parents for the academy's success. He praised the institution for nurturing young talent and encouraging children to excel in dance and cultural activities.

Expressing confidence in the selected participants, Sinha said he hoped they would perform well at the Mumbai festival and bring further recognition to Kokrajhar.

Academy Principal Pralay Dutta said the institution has consistently worked to promote dance and cultural education among young learners. He thanked parents for their continued support and encouraged the students to continue practising with dedication as they prepare for the international event.

The academy's performance at Sanskriti Sangam 2026 has been widely appreciated, with many describing it as another milestone in promoting young artistic talent from Kokrajhar on national and international platforms.
