Sangrami Sena, Assam urges the Chief Minister to retain and upgrade the existing hospital, citing public convenience and healthcare needs.

Memorandum seeks halt to proposed relocation of Nazira government-aided hospital

A memorandum has been submitted to the Assam Government seeking the cancellation of the proposed relocation of the government-aided hospital located in the heart of Nazira town.

The demand comes in the wake of media reports suggesting that the government is planning to shut down the hospital and shift its services, triggering concern among local residents. Citizens have also appealed to Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma to intervene in the matter.

In response, the Nazira Town branch of Sangrami Sena, Assam submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister through the Co-District Commissioner of Nazira, urging immediate intervention.

The delegation, led by Central Joint Secretary Mintu Duwara and Organisational Secretary Jakir Rahman, included Nazira Town Committee President Lakhy Gogoi, Joint Secretaries Ranjan Baruah and Rakibul Hussain, and Organisational Secretary Rabiul Ullah. The memorandum was formally submitted to the Co-District Commissioner.

Copies of the memorandum were also forwarded to the State Health Minister, the MLA of Nazira constituency and the Joint Director of Health Services, Sivasagar district.

In the memorandum, the organisation urged the government to withdraw the proposed decision to shift the hospital to the Karmashree Hiteswar Saikia Nazira Sub-Divisional Civil Hospital at Ligiripukhuri.

Instead, it called for the upgradation and strengthening of the existing government-aided hospital in Nazira town, stating that retaining the facility would better serve the interests and convenience of residents of the town and surrounding areas.
