NRHM scam at Golaghat, one suspended

The Commissioner to the Department of Health, Govt of Assam vide its letter HLA/641/2011/B/8 dt 28-07-11, today suspended Dr. Tralokya Saikia, Chief Health and Medical Officer(Family Planning) of Golaghat for alleged financial irregularities of funds allotted for Vasectomy and other schemes under NRHM. It is worth mentioning that Dr. Saikia has been appointed in the above mentioned designation only nine months ago but financial irregularities had been going on since 2008. There had been regular mention of such irregularities in the media but why the government took so many years to spring into action remains a mystery. If the concerned authorities probe the matter a number of other big fishes will surely be caught in the net.
