Udalguri: The Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) on Monday announced the candidates for 4 LAC's of Udalguri district viz.. Udalguri, Paneri,Mazbat and Kalaigaon showing doors to two of its sitting MLA's. While Assam Cabinet Minister and BPF leader Rihon Daimari have retained candidature for Udalguri,Mazbat sitting MLA Charan Boro have been nominated for Mazbat seat . Two new faces have been provided candidature in Paneri and Kalaigaon LAC's . BPF Organizing Secretary, Karuna Kanta Swargiary have been nominated as BPF candidate for Paneri LAC while veteran politician and Congressman who switched to BPF Durga Das Boro have been given candidature for Kalaigaon LAC. DUDHNOI: A local court in Dudhnoi sent Akhil Gogoi to fourteen days judicial custody after the police produced the KMSS leader before it on Sunday. The court, however, is hearing his bail petition on Tuesday. DUDHNOI: A day after getting Akhil Gogoi in their custody, the Dudhnoi police is producing the KMSS leader before a local court on Sunday. KMSS leaders and workers who are gathering in large number at the court premises hope that Gogoi would be able to procure bail in the afternoon. Amid a mammoth security arrangement the Dudhnoi police arrived at 9 in the evening from Dibrugarh in connection with a case where his activists allegedly wiped out the sign board of the Dindayal Upahyay College.
GUWAHATI:Shock and anger grip Assam again when a girl from Boko died in Guwahati Medical College Hospital on Saturday nine days after three local youths gangraped her. The incident took place on December 14 in Rongapani area when three local youths came to her house and gangraped her in the absence of her parents. The seriously injured girl was rushed to the GMCH where she died on Saturday triggering huge protest in the entire area. GUWAHATI: Security forces claimed to have captured a top ULFA-I rebel on the soil of Bangladesh triggering yet another controversy where the rebel outfits has vehemently denied arrest of his fellow rebels. DIBRUGARH: Amid a mammoth security arrangement, the Goalpara police have departed Dibrugarh early in the morning with Akhil Gogoi whom they arrested on Friday after the KMSS leader procured bail in a case pending against him in Moran Police station. The huge police team from Dudhnoi who arrived in Dibrigarh on Friday left for Goalpara at 8 in the morning. Gogoi would be kept in Dudhnoi police station for the night and on Sunday only he would be produced before the CJM court. The Dudhnoi police have got Gogoi in their demand on Friday evening in connection with two cases pending against the peasant leader.
