In deep grip of Christmas festivity

GUWAHATI: Christmas festivity grips the Assam with brisk preparation a couple of hours before the evening in the nook and corner of the north eastern stateChurches across the state are getting a fresh look with many people preparing for the midnight carols. Christmas trees are ready to be installed in every households of the Christians. Markets are teeming with the people for last minute shopping. Some others inside the churches are busy with rehearsal for the carols where people of all ages are participating defying a pinching cold wave at night. In Guwahati, last minute preparations are going on in Christianbast church, Baptist Church in Panbazar and Don Bosco where people are participating in the midnight carols. Same it is in Jorhat, where churches have been dressed afresh for the festival. Apart from the churches, the Christian educational institutes and hospitals are also gearing up to celebrate the festival with huge pomp and zeal. Reports of Christmas preparations are pouring in from Kokrajhar, Baska, Chirang, Udalguri, Tinsukia, Golaghat, Dibrugarh, Sivasagar, Nagaon, Morigaon, Silchar, Karimganj, Hailakandi, Dima Hasao, Sonitpur, Karbi Anglong, Dhemaji, Lakhimpur, Barpeta, Nalbari. www.assamtimes.org also wishes its contributors, correspondents, writers, visitors and well wishers a happy Christmas.
