Kokrajhar ready for poll

The Kokrajhar district administration is all set and geared up for the 3rd and last phase parliamentary election schedueld tomorrow in a tight security.

Kokrajhar Deputy Commissioner and Returning Officer Nitin Khade said the administration is fully prepared to conduct the election and ready to hold the election in free and fair manner. 

Kokrajhar Lok Sabha constituency consists of 10 Assembly segments. The total number of voters in respect of Kokrajhar HPC is 15, 03,190 with 7, 30,582 female voters. 

There are a total of 2049 numbers of polling stations, 130 polling building were identified as very sensitive, 220 sensitively safe and 188 comparatively safe.  

Khade said that preventive measures have been taken up and security intensified and round the clock security vigil. He said necessary arrangement with adequate security were done in border areas - West Bengal inter-state and Indo-Bhutan international border. He said army and paramilitary forces were used for area domination in sensitive areas which has presence of militancy in border areas.

He also said army helicopter would be used for security purpose and in emergency.

Kokrajhar is witnessing a multi-corned contest this time with a total six candidates in fray. The candidates are Urkhao Gwra Brahma (Independent, backed by ABSU and its allied organizations and parties like the BPPF, NDFB (P), UDPF, the PJACBM), Chandan Brahma of Bodoland Peoples' Front  (BPF), Ranjit Shekhar Mooshahary of Trinamool Congress (TMC), Naba Kumar Sarania alias Hira Sarania(Independent, backed by  Sanmilita Janagosthiya Aikya Manch), four times sitting MP Sansuma Khunggur Bwiswmuthiary(Independent) and Sabda Ram Rabha(Independent).

Workshop on Golden langur census organised

A census technique workshop on Golden Langur was organised by Kokrajhar Wildlife division in association with Primate Research centre NE India at Choraikola in Kokrajhar on Tuesday. The Bodoland Peoples Front(BPF) party has geared up for the upcoming assembly election holding of public meeting in the Bodoland region as well across the state. Hospital wall kills boy

A seven-years-old boy was succumbed to hospital following wall collapsed at Ghoskata Korida Madati sub-centre today in Kokrajhar district. According to family source, the boy identified as Bhim Brahma, son  of Bircharan Brahma of Korida Madati village was received serious injuries following wall collapsed along the newly constructed wall at Korida Madati sub-centre  this afternoon around 1 pm when he was playing with his friends. He was immediately rushed to Kokrajhar Rup Nath Brahma civil hospital for treatment and succumbed to hospital. 

NDFB(S) slams chauvinist governments’ for fake encounter

NDFB(S) cadre killed

Two hard core cadre of the National Democratic Front of Boroland-Songbijit faction (NDFB-S) were killed in an encounter with security forces on Sunday at North Auzarguri under Serfanguri police station in a joint operation launched by police and army in Kokrajhar district.  Based on a tip-off about presence of militant outfits, security forces launched a joint operation against militant cadres where heavy exchange of fire was held and two cadres were killed on the spot by around 6 am in the morning.  They were identified as Jwngswrang Basumatary alias Ladai and Sanjib Basumatary. Link man arrested

Security forces from Police and Army nabbed a link man of NDFB-Songbijit faction in a joint operation from Mainaguri under Serfanguri PS in Kokrajhar district on Saturday.  The link man was identified as Ila Narzary of Belgudi village. Health camp at Saralpara

A total of 640 patients from greater Saralpara thronged the medical and awareness camp to receive medical check-up on Saturday along the Indo-Bhutan border of Kokrajhar district, was organized by Army unit of Red Horns Division. Madhav Prasad Sarma, Deputy Commissioner, Kokrajhar inaugurated the camp. NSLA cadre arrested

Security forces belonging to police and army apprehended a senior cadre of National Santhali Liberation Army (NSLA) in a joint operation launched today at Shiyalmari area under Serfanguri police station in Kokrajhar. The arrested cadre was identified as Enverest Tudu alias Jambua of Srirampur. He was involved with extortion,terrorist activites in the region. A pistol, live bullet and a mobile handset was recovered from him.

Bike lifters arrested

Police arrested two gang of Bike lifter from Gutipara area under Bagribari police station in Kokrajhar district today. A police team of Bagribari police station able to arrest the bike lifter with stolen Bajaj Pulsar 150 cc bike bearing registered no AS- 19G-1932 from a Assam police constable Gulzar Hussain of Salbari village.
