Saradha: ED waiting for CBI probe

The Enforcement Directorate team, dealing with the Saradha scam, is waiting for CBI investigation to chargesheet the people involved in the multi crore scam. The investigating officials have been finalizing the charges against political leaders, businessmen who struck unholy deal with Saradha boss Sudipto Sen. The ED is believed to have traced a substantial part of the proceeds of the crime. Once the CBI probe is over, then ED will be able to file a prosecution complaint (chargesheet) against the accused. The official said that the department had attached properties worth Rs3.50 crore apart from the attachment of the properties in West Bengal, Assam and Odhisha. The ED had conducted more than 100 interrogations and arrested three people.

Will you believe that Tarun Gogoi is involved in the Louis Berge bribery? Without his consent how the then GMDA minister and his powerful circle of officers took bribe from the Canada based firm for the multi crore water supply project in Guwhati? That’s what prompts state BJP unit to target the chief minister.   

Addressing a press conference in Guwahati on Sunday, BJP leader and MP Ramen Deka said without the knowledge of the chief minister, the multi crore scam would not have taken place.

“If he is not involved why he is yet to recommend a CBI probe when the Goa government steps up probe apart from a CBI investigation?,” said Deka.

Deka observed that only a CBI probe would be able to unearth the truth behind the multi crore scam. “But the chief minister has ordered a CID probe to wash his hands off.”

Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi is confident that the ruling party would be able to win all the five seats where the first phase of Lok Sabha poll is taking place on Monday.

Talking to reporters minutes after casting his votes at DC Baruah Girls’ HS School on Monday morning, Gogoi said that the ruling party would cash in on the division of opposition votes where AGP candidate Pradeep Hazarika is contesting.

“Whatever my government has done during my tenure as chief minister is best of all the states in the country. That’s why, we will put up a good performance in this poll,” said Gogoi.

Gogoi dismissed Modi waves in Assam saying these are not visible on the ground and that large scale voters ---old and young will vote for the ruling.
