The stage is all set for by polls in Silchar along with Jamunamukh and Lakhipur. Amid tight security, poll officials are leaving for their assigned booths with electronic voting machines on Friday morning where 206,573 voters are set to decide on the fate of 12 candidates.
Polling will begin at 7 in the morning which will conclude at 5 in the afternoon. The results would be available on September 16.
The assembly constituency is holding a straight fight between the BJP's Dilip Paul and the Congress's Arun Dutta Mazumder.
By-election for the Silchar seat was necessitated by Congress legislator Susmita Dev's election to the Lok Sabha.
