The North East Media Forum (NEMF) in New Delhi has urged Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh to ensure safety and security of the journalists working in the north eastern states saying these scribes facing a great deal of trouble while discharging their duties and responsibilities. In a letter to the Prime Minister, the forum has said only the north eastern journalists are facing so many threats for fearless duties.

The journalist body further said if this continues they will find it completely difficult to write anything highlighting the activities of the government and also make the people aware of the ill impact of the various insurgent outfits operating in the region.
