Assam Government Railway Police have installed a new Helpline Number, “1512” to facilitate the Railway Passengers and other people to approach the Assam Government Railway Police for issues pertaining to safety, security and crime in Railways.

Dept of Education signs MoU with Aussie University

The Department of Higher (Technical) Education, of Assam government has signed three MoUs with Curtin University, Australia at Perth on Tuesday in presence of Assam chief minister Tarun Gogoi. The Department is already in collaboration with Curtin University for a project on improving the quality of technical education in Assam. Govt to set up Farmers’ Development Corporation

Assam government is mulling setting up a Farmers’ Development Corporation and Rs 1,000 crore will be allocated for taking up various farmers’ oriented schemes.Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi said during an interactive programme with 100 farmers from different parts of the state on Friday.Gogoi said that his government has all along been giving emphasis on the agriculture sector and has taken up a slew of schemes aimed at raising the income of the farmers.“Ours is an agrarian economy and the development of the state hinges on agriculture and allied sectors. Assam governor PB Acharya who is also in charge of Nagaland and Tripura gave away the young talented artistes award for the year 2014-15 to 12 young talented artistes from across the north-eastern states.  It was organized by North East zone Cultural Centre (NEZCC) under the union ministry of culture at Silpagram auditorium in Guwahati. In his speech the governor has said that the entire North East is the hub of many traditional art and culture. Guwahati to have AC city buses

25th Convocation of Gauhati University

Seat belts mandatory

Assam government has made compulsory use of seat belt in all types of vehicles.The government has also directed to ensure fitment of seat belt in all types of passenger vehicles including buses by April 15, 2015. Further, no one can sell or handover any vehicle to any customer without pre-fitted seat belt device. Such vehicles will not be entitled for registration, transfer of ownership or fitness certificate etc if it is not fitted with seat belt device for each and every seat. 

Mountaineering team to scale Mt Everest

New law against witch-hunting

Assam chief minister Tarun Gogoi assured to enact a law to deal with witch-hunting and its manifestations.
