Bodofa UN Brahma remembered
The All Bodo Students Union and UN BrahmaTrust (UNBT) remembered contribution of Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma, former president of the students union on his 59th birth anniversary today at Tulungapuri, Dotma in Kokrajhar.
Irrespective of community leaders, students, student union leaders including Promod Boro, president of Absu, Sameswar Brahma , elder brother of Bodofa,Krishna Gopal Basumatary, Director of UN Academy, Pradip Kumar Brahma, Mla,BTC member Indra Mahan Brahma paid rich floral tribute to late Brahma and prayed for eaternal peace of Brahma's soul.
Promod Boro said that Bodofa was a great leader of Bodo and other downtrodden communities in the region . He said that the students union will keep alive if ideology and philosophy of Bodofa who had contributed lots towards building healthy of integration among various communities. He said that students union has been organising his anniversary every year as Students Day on March 31 to mark his birth anniversary. He said Bodofa had dreamt a master race of Bodos in the world and worked for upliftment of the society till his last breath.
An open meeting was also held on the occasion . Prof Ajit Boro, Prof Berlao K Karjee graced the meeting and addressed.

The All Bodo Artistes’ Association(ABAA) has rescheduled its 7th annual conference on February 7 and 8 next instead of January 10 and 11 citing the recent carnage in the district. There are still 73 relief camps running where 1,54,305 inmates are taking shelter and 25 police fixed pickets have been set up to the displaced places in the district, said Thaneswar Malakar, Kokrajhar DC on Friday.Malakar while speaking the reporters today at DC office conference hall said that the relief camp have decreased 73 from 81 camps in the three sub-divisions like Kokrajhar,Gossaigaon and Parbatjhora in the district. Relief camp inmates at Patgaon High School in Kokrajhar gheraoed VP Payarilal, additional chief secretary of govt of Assam and Thaneswar Malakar, Kokrajhar DC on Friday demanding security measures and suffiecient relief materials.The officials visited the camp to stock of the relief works at the school involving sector officer and relief incharge, but inmates saw uproar over government officials and gheraoed the officials for half an hour. Two hard-core KLO militants surrendered before police in Kokrajhar on Wednesday. Identified as Dhananjay Barman alias Dayal alias Jiten alias Sonatan and Gopal Barman alias Joydeb alias Joy surrendered before Kokrahar SP Sunil Kumar at SP office in the morning.They further deposited an HK-33 German made assault riffle and two hand grenades before the authority. Dayal is the district commander of Kokrajhar and Dhubri dsitrict and carried out reward of Rs 5 lakhs by Dispur. He joined the outfit in 2010 and got underwent training at Nagaland-Myanmar border. A delegation of 26 organisations visited the refugee camps in Kokrajhar and Chirang districts on Tuesday. Comprising members from AASU, ABSU, AASAA, they shared the grief of the camp inmates.Besides New Bashbari, the delegation visited Deosri and Molandubi relief camp in Chirang district. Security forces claimed to have killed 3 suspected cadres of NDFB-S militants during the combing operation from Sankosh area in Gossaigaon subdivision of Kokrajhar district on Monday.According to police, identified as Rodip Narzary, Bennedict Basumatary and Rahidas Narzary were apprehended when they were on the way towards West Bengal from Jambuguri area in Gossaigaon in a Nano vehicle bearing registration no AS-01 MB 3661. A section local residents in Gossaigaon mercilessly killed a full grown leopard after one person sustained injury in its attack on Monday.The incident took place at Jingribil area under Bauraguri police station in Gossaigaon subdivision of Kokrajhar district on Monday where the animal which came out of the Ripu-chirang reserve forest under Kachgaon forest division on Sunday in search of home sneaked into human habitat on Monday.Identified as Jwngsar Brahma, the 18 year old youth was injured in the attack in the morning.
