Counting to the 40 member the BTC council election going on starting from 8 am this morning amidth tight security in the four districts.

In Kokrajhar,the counting halls were arranged in  three sub-divisions at Kokrajhar,Gossaigaon and Parbatjhora in a vigil security.

Expected that final declaration of the results to the council would be announced by 6 pm.

 Security forces have claimed to arrest two NDFB-S cadres and a linkman at an operation from Tamulpur area on Sunday in Baksa district. The cadres and linkman was arrested by security forces during in an operation in Tamulpur area,who were identified Keteng Boro, Ratneswar Boro and Birkang Basumatary (linkman).Two pistol, 22 live bullet and some incriminating documents were recovered from their possession, said a senior police officer.

Hundreds of students activists from Kokrajhar district unit of AASU carried out a torch light rally in protest against land swap deal on land boundary agreement this evening in Kokrajhar town.The rally was started from Aasu office near Rajmela ground via RNB road, DC office, Santinagar and concluded at same point. The students activist shouted slogans against deal and demanded deal should be rethink and cancelling for the greater interest of the state. The union strongly slammed CM Taunton Gogoi and termed Gogoi has sold Assam land to Bangladesh as he has supported to the deal. 
A hardcore cadre to the NDFB-S was killed in an encounter with security forces at Ultapani area under Kokrajhar PS late last night in Kokrajhar district along the Indo Bhutan border. Getting a tip top information about the presence of militant outfits inctge area ma joint team of security forces from police, army and SSB conducted operation and encounter was held in between NDFB-S and forces where a hardcore cadre if the militant was killed on the spot. The slain militant wax identified as Bhusa Brahma@Bhuhum, a cadre of 38th batch of the outfit. A pistol, three rounds and three hand grenades were recovered from his possession. 
The Kokrajhar District administration today extended ex-gratia to the next of kin of the thunderstorm survivors of the district. Thaneswar Malakar DC Kokrajhar visited the thunderstorm affected areas at Simbargaon and Karigaon. He met with the injured at the Rup Nath Brahma Civil Hospital. Malakar extended an amount of Rs. 10,000 each to the kin of Tileb Boro and Narkw Basumatary as ex-gratia. 
A total of 468 students under Kokrajhar Sadar sub-division were given away Tablet PC in Kokrajhar district.The Tablet PC was given away to the students, who were stood second division with 50% and above in the HSLC examination(2014) under the Chief Minister Special Award Scheme,2014 at a function held at Basic Training Centre on Tuesday in Kokrajhar.Altogether 1,133 students stood second division with 50% and above in the HSLC examination (2014) in the district, 468 in Kokrajhar Sadar sub-division and 665 in Parbatjhora and Gossaigaon sub-division.Students under Parbatjhora and Gossaigaon sub-division would be distributed tomorrow at Gossaigaon Govt HS School.
Students activists from Kokrajhar district committee of the All Assam Students Union protested and burnt draft of land swap deal supported from state government at Kokrajhar town near Rajmela ground today.The activists shouted slogans against state govt and demanded withdrawal of supporting letter on the matter of land swap deal with Bangladesh, which has been gaining against interest of Assam. The students union slammed the CM Tarun Gogoi for stepping to support the land swap deal and expressed their resented that people and land if the state would be affected through deal in the region.
Security forces claimed to have captured a hardcore cadre of NDFB-S militant in Chirang district on Monday. Swmkwr Mushahary alias Serfang the militant was held during a joint operation in Bamungaon area near Sidli in the evening. He was trained up in Myanmar who returned to the state in March only. A 7.65 pistol, two round live bullets were recovered from his possession.
