Tremors struck again

Three back to back tremors struck no less panic on Tuesday forcing the authorities to sound alert across the state.

The state rattled at 12.37 when a 7.4 magnitude originated in Kathmandu. This was followed by the second one tremor which was of mild 3.4 intensity in Richter scale at 1.20 in the afternoon. The epicenter was Tezpur.

Yet another earthquake spread panic among the people 30 minutes later forcing the people to come out of their high rise buildings.

In Guwahati also, the panic stricken people rushed to the roads and open space as soon as the tremors were felt. Cracks are believed to have surfaced in the Anandoram Barooah Flyover in Guwahati apart from three buildings. There is no report of any casualty till now.

UDALGURI: Thousands of people in Udalguri seem to have heaved a sigh of relief when Mazbat MLA,Charan Boro launched the Chief Minister's Free Diagnostic Services Programme in Orang CHC at a function on Thursday. The hospital received a laboratory which Boro called a bold initiative by the government to help the poor. KOHIMA:No poll candidates in Nagaland has so far filed nomination papers even two days after the Election Commission issues notification for the February 27 assembly polls. The state election office on Thursday confirmed that no candidate has turned up to file nomination paper and the returning officers stationed at the district and sub divisional headquarters have been remaining prepared to receive the papers till February 27.   Ten major parties have already agreed at a joint declaration not to field any candidate. MARGHERITA: Security forces claimed to have eliminated two dreaded rebels from Assam and Manipur at a fierce gunfight in Arunachal Pradesh on Thursday.
