Union minister of state for home Kiren Rijiju is scheduled to visit Assam to take stock of the law and order situation on Saturday a day after an senior police officer was killed in KPLT captivity.
During his day long visit, Rijiju will assess the law and order situation wit high level police and civil officials. Chief secretary JS Khusla, DGP Khagen Sarma are likley to brief the union minister in Dispur.
Startling revelations seem to have surfaced 12 hours after KPLT killed Nityananda Goswami in Hamren on Friday.
According to police officials who was with the Hamren SDP bordering Meghalaya, Goswami and his guard Ratul Nunisa were killed in KPLT captivity.
Goswami nd Nunisa were captured by the Karbi militant outfit before being shot dead from a point blank range on Friday wee hours.
Another police constable managed to flee from the spot. Goswami’s body was recovered along with his PSO Ratul Nunisa.

Forest minister Rockybul Hussain on Thursday dropped hint of the involvement of a circle of forest officers and workers in the rampant rhino poaching cases in the Kaziranga national park.

After attending a close door meeting of the dissident camp in Dispur on Wednesday, Chaliha who is known to be a close associate of Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma Chaliha told reporters that as head of the state, the party MLAs and ministers must abide by chief minister Tarun Gogoi.
