More pilgrims pouring in

 Over 10 lakh pilgrims are likely to visit the kamakhya temple premises on the occasion of the ambubachi fair which is underway.

 Talking to Assam Times, organizers said over 5 lakh pilgrims are on the way. Some of them have already reached the city to be brought to the venue by transport, train and ferry.

 “ We have the medical and disaster management team with us to be deployed as occasion demands,” said organizers.

 The authorities are working to ensure uninterrupted power and water supply to the camps along with comfortable sanitation and hygiene.

Black Belt for 10 year old

 A 10 year old karate player from Nagaon brings laurels to the district after earning Black belt in a Karate competition organized by  International  Shorin-Ryu Seibukan Karate Do Association , Assam , in Guwahati recently.

Jyotiraditya Khaund , a fifth standard student of Riveral School , Nagaon  is also the youngest Black Belt holder of the district. He won Gold medal in the sixth International Karate competition held in Jaipur city , Rajasthan in 2015. He bagged a Silver medal in the All India Inter-School Karate competition organized by Assam Seinsikai karate Do Association in  Guwahati  in 2014. Similarly, He secured first positions  at the Nagaon district Karate competition and South Assam Zone Karate competitions  apart from securing third position in the recently held All Assam Sotkan Do Karate competition.

Jyotiraditya has set his  eyes on continuing karate and is hopeful of getting more better. His parents , Sushil Kumar Khaund and Nabanita Khaund , a resident of Panigaon area of Nagaon are pleased with their son’s success.  Jyotiraditya is learning Karate from Ramen Pal Das and Dip Gogoi .  


Jail Bhoro program of CPI (ML)

Barpeta district CPI(ML) today observed jail-bhoro programme protesting against the skyrocketing price hike and the continuous corruption in implementing the various NREGA schemes of the entire district. The district unit took out a procession with slogan against the governments towards the deputy commissioner's office and in front of Deputy commissioner's office they staged demonstration. The urged the government for controlling the skyrocketing price hike which has made the lives of the general people measurable. On the other hand the corruption in NREGA schemes also harassed the people depriving the proper persons.

3 killed in truck- Alto head on collision

DUDHNOI: Three people including two Meghalaya policemen were killed when the vehicle in which they were travelling collided head on a truck in Goaplara on Thursday.

The mishap took place on the National Highway No 62 at Balacha along the Assam-Meghalaya border in the wee hours where the trio died on the spot. Details awaited.
