It was a homely meeting organized at Guwahati Press Club that witnessed the release of a travel fiction titled Ontarior Seuj Dalisat (Over Green Carpet of Ontario) and penned by Dr Jagadindra Raychoudhury in presence of several senior journalists. Inaugurating the book, Swapnaneel Barua, a scholar and also a senior bureaucrat of Assam, pointed out that the writer not only documented various events related to his visit to Canada, but also painted a humanist reminiscence with his created characters.
The function, held on 1 July 2015, was also addressed by senior journalists like Hiten Mahanta, Rupam Barua, PJ Barua, Mukul Kalita, Ranen Kumar Goswami, Nava Thakuria and Pramod Kalita. Moderated by journalist Sabita Lahkar, the meeting was graced by acclaimed story writer Jyotish Sikder, professors Anup Talukder & Nirmali Medhi, singers Anindita Choudhury & Kishor Giri and Bitopan & Sneha. A prolific writer, Dr Raychoudhury is an associate professor of B Barua College, Guwahati and contributor to various Assam based newspapers and magazines. A smiling personality Dr Raychoudhury is also a regular participant in various radio programs and television talk shows. Published by Basundhara publication of Hatigaon in Guwahati, the book has 192 pages with a nice cover designed by prominent artist Padma Singha. It is priced at Rs 250/- per copy.

we know or have read many travel related books but "Ontario'r heuj dolisat" is not only a travel experience but is a travel fiction..A great experience as you keep on reading this book and gain new knowledge & issues..we expect many new books from him and wish him success..
A huge turnout is expected in five constituencies where the first phase of Lok Sabha pollings are taking place on Monday.Voters----both new and old are waiting in long queues in front of the polling booths to exercise their franchise as soon as the voting began at 7 in the morning.Jorhat and Dibrugarh ok Sabha seats have registered 35 per cent turn out till 12 noon. At 12 noon, the voters’ turn out in Koliabor is 17 per cent. Same picture was seen in Lakhimpur, and Tezpur where polling is underway with brisk note. Barring some technical glitches, pollings are by and large peaceful.

Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi casted his vote at a heavily attended polling booths on Monday morning. Accompanied by his wife Dolly Gogoi, the chief minister joined the queue of voters for nearly 30 minutes at the DC Baruah Girls HS School at No 10 Jorhat ward. He casted his vote at 9-50 in the morning.Hours before that his son Gaurab Gogoi also exercised his franchise before leaving for Koliabor where he is contesting as the Congress candidate.

Brisk polling is going on in Jorhat, Lakhimpur, Tezpur, Dibrugarh and Koliabor where 64,10,883 voters are exercising their franchise to decide on the fate 51 candidate in the first phase of Lok Sabha polls on Monday.Heavily guarded by 321 companies of security forces apart from 1221 para military forces, the polling is underway in 8,588 booths. The authorities have deployed 38,463 officials apart from 743 micro observers.Of the 8,588 booths, 407 have video cameras while 139 stations have still camera. Koliabor Congress candidate and Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi’s son Gaurav Gogoi has exercise his franchise in Jorhat in the morning.Accompanied by his wife, Gaurab arrived in his booth at DC Baruah Girls HS School in No 103 ward of Jorhat town and waited for the moment for half and hour.Finally, he casted his vote at 7-45 in the morning. Talking to reporters after casting his vote, Gogoi said that his party would be able to show a commendable performance this time.Later, he left for Koliabor to visit the polling booths where he is contesting as the Congress candidate.
Tezpur Congress candidate Bhupen Bora has casted his vote.
