Chief minister Tarun Gogoi on Monday made it plain and simple that his government wants 2014 voter list as one of the supportive documents to update the national registrar of citizens.
Responding to the legislators who asked him to clear his position, Gogoi said that the list would be required if the documents earlier announced by the Supreme Court are not available for an indigenous citizen.
He said that his government has already moved the Supreme Court for consideration which has not so far rejected the affidavit.

Mr. Tarun Gogoi is going mad because the assembly election of Assam is approaching. He is such a person who knows only vote bank politics. He is a useless Chief Minister of Assam who has no interest to protect the indigenous communities of Assam rather he is ready to protect the illegal Bangladeshis who entered illegally to our land. The vote bank politics of Congress in Assam will lead our state to be part of Bangladesh. Tarun Gogoi will sell Assam to Bangladesh and he along with his family will settlen down in London.
Chief minister Tarun Gogoi is in a mood to finalise further expansion of his ministry. Gogoi who is camping in New Delhi is meeting Dr CP Joshi on Friday. The chief minister is finalising the names of four legislators who would be inducted afresh in the cabinet. By evening Dr Joshi is expected to give high command's consent t go ahead.Sources told Assam Times that Gogoi got Sonia Gandhi's seal of approval on Thursday when he met the party president at her residence. Marked by a string of stray incidents the AGP-sponsored 10 hour statewide Assam bandh ends in the afternoon. The bandh which evoked partial response in protest against the Indo-Bangla land swap ended in the afternoon. It had hardly any impact on Guwahati city and Barak valley where the normal life was running as usual. But some stray incidents marred the bandh in many parts of the state. A section of AGP activists enforced the bandh by burning tyres on the road. Some others attacked some school buses.
War of words between Khagen Sarma and Paresh Baruah refuses to die down. The ULFA commander in chief took on the state director general of police on Thursday a day after Sarma brushed aside any fresh peace process with any militant outfit. In a telephonic conversation, the ULFA boss contradicted said that if the Centre proceeds to talk to them then Sarma will have no say. A huge thunderstorm unleashed no less reign of terror in many parts of the state leaving 3 people dead in Nagaon and Darrang districts on Thursday wee hours.Accompanied by heavy lightening, the thunderstorm took place in the wee hours ravaging many houses. A string of untoward incidents marred the AGP-sponsored 10 hour statewide Assam bandh in protest against Indo-Bangla land deal on Thursday.The stray incidents, mostly, took place early in the morning when AGP activists in large numbers came out to the road and burnt down tyres to disrupt surface communication.A section of AGP workers started enforcing the bandh by pelting stones Demow area where several local passengers sustained injury. Dr Amalendu Guha is dead leaving the entire state in a pall of gloom on Thursday.The end came for historian and social scientist at his own residence at 3-45 in the wee hours where he was keeping unwell for the last couple of weeks.Guha, who is known for his thought provoking writings, was born in 1924 in Imphal. Congress will be more aggressive hardly a year before the assembly polls. The party will sharply take on BJP on a number of issues. Chief minister Tarun Gogoi has asked the ministers to go all out against BJP to expose the real face of the ruling party at the Centre. Gogoi further has asked his ministers to highlight the U turns on the main issues during the last one year. “We must capitalize the Narendra Modi government’s U turn on the land swap deal.
