I-Day celebrated at Kalaigaon and Tangla

The 69 th Independence Day was celebrated at Kalaigaon and Tangla with gaiety. At Kalaigaon DN Hazarika,Circle Officer,Kalaigaon Revenue Circle hoisted the national flag at Gandhi Bakori field before receiving march past salute offered by five contingents namely- Lokapriya Bordoloi Public School, Tengabari LP School,Kalaigaon HS School,Girls of Kalaigaon HSS and Pride Academy in presence of nearly four thousand people.The march past event was commanded by Bandhu Ram Saharia. On the occasion the CO remembered thousands known and unknown heros of Mother India who had sacrificed their lives for present India.He also proudly recalled a few legendary freedom fighters of Darrang and Udalguri namely -Pani Ram Das, Bonshidhar Sarma and Kamaleswar Sarma of Kalaigaon. The Circle Officer felicitated meritorious student Seema Sarma for showing excellent results in the last HSLC examination.Spectacular cultural events were also arranged on the occasion by boys and girls to much delight of the people present. A friendly football match was arranged in the evening. Kamal Prasad Sarma and Lohit Nath anchored the proceedings of the day.

At Tangla

At commercial town Tangla, Bhaskarjyoti Manta, Circle Officer,Harisinga Revenue Circle hoisted the national flag at Tangla HS School Play ground in the presence of nearly five thousand people.Speaking on the occasion CO Matna requested people to remember the supreme sacrifice of those who had sacrificed their lives for the freedom of our country.Numbers of march past contingents of police,schools and colleges took part in the march paste event. Several persons were felicitated on the occasion for their outstanding service and talents. Unfortunately Atlanta Das of Arunodoi Academy Tangla,the topper in the last HSLC examination in Udalguri district with 94.5 percent marks and a few other meritorious students left out to the dismay of people present.

Delayed construction of Kalanadi bridge at Bamunjuli resented

The delay in the construction of an RCC bridge over Kalanodi at Bamunjuli in Bhergaon Sub-division of Udalguri district been a serious concern of several villages namely- Kalikhola, Bamunjuli, Orangajuli, Nonoikhuti, Samrang etc, for several years.Situated 25 kms away from Tangla, construction work of the new RCC bridge over Kalanodi near Bamunjuli has been very slow, as alleged by the people of the locality. NDFB apprehanded in Udalguri

Troops of 315 Field Regiment (Kargil) of the Red Horns Division apprehended one notorious NDFB (AT) Cadre in Miripara village (Ambagaon), under Udalguri Police Station on July 22. According to army press release the arrest was made on the basis of information from ground sources after a massive operation was launched by the Army Camp Borrengajuli to apprehend Rahul Khaklari from village Miripara. Mentally retarded mother of three brutally murdered after gang rape

The brutal gang rape and murder of a 35 years old mentally retarded woman at Kalaigaon has created sensation in the district. According to information, one Alagjan Khatun (35) daughter of Mosarab Ali of Puthiakhat village, under Kalaigaon Police Station had been brutally murdered at Kalaigaon LP School premises on the night of June 13 at 11 PM.
