Polling is over for Tiwa Autonomous Council in Nagaon and Morigaon districts on Wednesday. The fate of 112 candidates have been sealed in the ballot boxes which would be opened on Saturday. The turn out was a moderate 60 per cent till the end of the polling.
Voting began with a slow note because an inclement weather which started at 8 in the morning in 190 booths in the two districts. But voters in large thronged the booths later in the day when the weather condition improved. The authorities have deployed 746 polling officials for the purpose
This is apart from it, 8 companies of paramilitary forces were deployed to maintain law and order in the voting in Morigaon.
Counting of votes will be held on August 22 at the District Institute of Education and Training (DIET), Morigaon.
