After days of will-he-won’t-he, Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma put in his paper as Jalukbari on Tuesday. 

Dr Sarma, who has already joined BJP last month, handed over his resignation letter before Assam Assembly Speaker Pranab Kumar Gogoi at his official residence in Dispur in the afternoon. 

Dr Sarma, who had been doing dissidence against Tarun Gogoi as chief minister unofficially join the saffron party towards the end of August when he met BJP president Amit Shah in his New Delhi residence.
