Center's belated blink to Manipur

The centre is closely monitoring the prevailing law and order situation in Manipur. Violence will only compound the problem. Need of the hour is exercising restraint. This was more or less of what a home ministry team said in Manipur on Tuesday when they were on a stock taking visit to the restive north eastern state a month after 9 people died in a orgy of violence after the assembly passed three controversial bills.

The central team headed by Ashok Prasad, told the agitating people to exercise restraint when they talked to them after arriving in Churachandpur in the morning. Here is the excerpt of the speech for the agitating people.      

"I can feel their pains and I understand their extend of bereavement. Loss of lives would always be a tragedy more so when it involved those who are plucked away in the prime of their lives. As a brother I share your tears and grief and as a friend I stand by you in your prayers for peace to the departed souls.

These are difficult time that we faced today. A difficult situation that can only be move forward with the help and sympathetic participations of all the stake holders. In fact the relative calm that we produced here today is a tribute to your understanding in the face of great tragedy. I appeal to all of you for continuation of this steering and I particularly the role play by the mothers and ladies of this area who have appeared in the forefront in helping to stabilized and pacified an extremely volatile situations.

I am also grateful to the elders and leaders of this area for their guidance and their directions that they have provided and continue to provide to steer us through this stormy period. I pray to them to continue to guide and advise us as we work toward the speedy resolution of the issue and the avoidance of further tragedy.

After this I'll be interacting with the different stake holders assisting and listening to their words of concerns and I will be taking their valuable suggestions. Some of you have already been interacting with the Central government and I am aware of their concerns and of the commitment of the government in Delhi to join prosperity and peace of this region with the rest of the country. It will be my endeavor to understand the nuances and complexity of the situation so that necessary and effective steps can be initiated at appropriate levels to bring back peace and stability to this area."

Why the center is taking time in inclusion of Meitie as ST. The isolation of Meitie in the false pretext of general is a major concern in Manipur. Social integration is hampared by this delay.

GUWAHATI: Assam Chief Minister’s anti corruption and vigilance cell conducted a raid at the residence of a senior forest officer in Guwahati on Wednesday. The sleuths reached the residence of Aftabuddin Ahmed at Sundarpur area in the city in the morning and started the raid. Some of these officials raided a girls’ hostel Aashiyana owned by Ahmed who is known for his close association with former forest minister Rockybul Hussain. Marcus Kanyak KOHIMA: Former Nagaland chief minister and NDPP candidate Neiphu Rio elected unopposed after his sole rival and NPF candidate in the Northern Angami constituency C Angami withdrew his nomination on Monday. Rio, the NDPP-BJP alliance chief ministerial candidate received certificate from the returning officer in the evening. Altogether 192 candidates are contesting in the February 27 assembly polls in the north eastern state.
NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court is not at all satisfied with the CBI probe into the secret killing cases in Manipur. A division bench of the country's apex court comprising Justice MB Lokur and Justice UU Lalit on Monday said that the premier investigation agency has not been probing the nefarious cases where Army, police and para military forces were involved in the extra judicial cases.  The bench further asked NHRC to dispatch a team of officials to help the SIT to complete the probe. The bench observed that the status report has not seal of approval from CBI director which needs to be done in the next report. 
AGARTALA: A BJP poll promise triggers no less controversy in Tripura giving much ammunition for the ruling Left Front to attack the saffron party amid the electioneering heat and dust. If BJP is voted to power all youths in the north eastern state will receive smartphones. The poll promise comes out in the speech of party president Amit Shah who held three rallies in the state on Monday.  In his address at a rally, Shah said the BJP Government will give all youths smartphones. MARCUS KANYAK KOHIMA: A massive security arrangement is in place in Nagaland as the north eastern state is going to the assembly polls on February 28. Official sources confirmed in Kohima that the the Centre is prepared to dispatch 281 companies of security apart from the state police. These central forces are arriving soon to help the state ensure free and fair polls. According to the state election department, 77 central forces have already landed in the poll bound state while others are likely to arrive in a day or two. GUWAHATI: A 24 hour statewide chakka bandh heavily disrupted the road transport services in Assam causing immense inconvenience for the commuters on Monday. All Assam Motor Workers Association has enforced the bandh from early in the morning raising demands to ensure welfare, roll back of fuel prices, amendment of the Motor Vehicle Act, 1988 and withdrawal of ban on the movement of the e-rickshaws. KOHIMA: Nagaland BJP has stepped up action against TheNewsJoint.com, after lesser known news portal broke out a story alleging Ram Madhav's stay at hotel in Dimapur with two girls. Issuing a statement hours after the damaging story went viral in social media state party president said the story was totally false which aimed at tarnishing the image and integrity of the BJP heavyweight who has been handling the party's affairs in the north eastern region. The state president further threatened to initiate action against the news portal under the IT Act.
