Aryabhatta science building opens

The first Aryabhatta Science Building in Udalguri district has been inaugurated at Kalaigaon on September 26 with day long events. Sadhana Hojai,Deputy Commissioner,Udalguri district formally inaugurated the new Aryabhatta Science Centre building at Lokapriya Bordoloi Public School campus at 10.45 am on the occassion of yearly block level science based competition in presence of several hundred students and teachers of more than twelve neibouring high schools. Deputy Commissioner expressed her pleasuer to inauguration the first Aryabhatta Science building at Kalaigaon saying that only a few blocks in Assam had been selected by ASTEC for construction of science building and Kalaigaon was the first to be inaugurated in the district. The DC also said that ASC Kalaigaon block had been doing very well in the field of science and technology since its establishment in 2007 by Assam government.She requested teachers and students to come forward to avail facilities given by Assam Science Technology and Environment Council,Guwahati under Department of Science and Technology,Government of Assam. It needs mention that the new science building has been constructed at an amount of Rs.400,000 only sanctioned by ASTEC.She also inspected science instruments in the centre including the telescope for night sky observation.DC Hojai also visited the science exhibition where students displayed various science models.

Earlier,Nabin Chandra Boro,Inspector of Schools,Udalguri district hoisted the ASC flag at 10.30 am. The block level science based competitions were inaugurated by DN Hazarika,Circle Officer,Kalaigaon Revenue Circle at 11 am. Several distinguished teachers,social workers namely- Kami Ram Saharia,Kamal Prasad Sarma,Napoleon Daimari,Principal,Arunodoi Academy,Tangla ;Pranab Jyoti Das,Principal,Arunodoi Junior College Tangla;Khiteswar Basumatari,HM,Sanjwrang HS etc also attended the inaugural ceremony.Anima Bhuan ,HOD,Department of Zoology,Tangla College attended the daylong programme as the chief judge. Dhritishree Hazarika,Coordinator,ASC,Kalaigaon offered felicitation to all the distinguished gust while Jayant Das District Coordinator,ASC,Udalguri anchored the proceedings.

Atlanta Das of Arunodoi Academy,Tangla who had scored highest 94 percent marks beside scoring hundred percent marks in Mathmatics in the last HSLC examination in Udalguri district was also felicitaed jointly by Kalaigaon Revenue Circle Officer and District ASC Coordinator, Udalguri with gamocha,book and a citation letter. Students from twelve schools took part in the various science based competitions. Following students have secured first three places respectively in each category.

A minor girl dead and dozen others fell ill after they consumed prasad served at a religious function in Udalguri district on Friday. The tragic incident took place in Kalaigaon area where a ten year old girl died early in the morning. At least 71 others have complained of stomach ace and vomitting hours after they consumed prasad. The deceased was identified as Dipsikha Nath who died at the Mangaldai Civil Hospital. Talking to media, ADC DN Hazariaka said that the incident took place hours after they consumed prasad at the house of Harakanta Nath on Wednesday.
