Calf rally in Kokrajhar

An awareness meeting on artificial insemination and calf rally, organised by ICDP, BTC in association with Veterinary officer, key village centre, Kokrajhar was held at Balajan near Bodoland University in Kokrajhar today. 

BTC executive member for Veterinary and Animal Husbandary department Shyam Sundi inaugurated the rally graced as chief guest. 

Sundi inspected the calf and interacted with owners of the calf about care taking of the animals. 

He said that BTC administration was working to make diseases free situation of the animals. 

'Farmers should step to devote dedication while taking care of animals and stress to earn livelihood among society', Sundi said. 

He has expressed his confidence that animal husbandry can extend economy sustainable to the common citizens.

Rahila Brahma, Secretory BTC, Dr Dilip Bhuyan, BTC CHD were prominent attendies in the programme.

Former Rajya Sabha MP UG Brahma headed as president of the newly formed United Peoples Party (UPP) which was formed today at Dotma in Kokrajhar in a special convention organised by PCDR in Kokrajhar. Rwngwra Narzary, chief coordinator of PCDR announced the names of the newly formed party where noted former Absu leader Pradip Kumar Daimary was selected as general secretary.The party has eyed equal distribution and progress of the society in coming days.

Kokrajhar police apprehended six linkmen of NDFB-S from Aflagaon area under Serfanguri police station in Kokrajhar district today. Police arrested the linkmen following case registered with Serfanguri PS numbering 77/15 for extending support hardcore Ndfb-s cadre Sankhang in the area for a kidnapping in subversive activities in the run up Independence day celebration. The arrested were produced to court and remanded for 5 days for police custody. They have been identified as Lukuram Basumatary, Boldi Basumatary, Rwmwi Basumatary, Chiranjit Basumatary, Bonus Kumar Brahma and Sudem Basumatary. 
Security forces belonging to the army and police apprehended two cadres of National Santal Liberation Army(NSLA) rebels  from Karigaon area in Kokrajhar district today.Sources said based on inputs, a joint operation was launched by the army and police in Karigaon area and apprehended two NSLA rebels. The arrested rebels were identified as  Manoj Soren, 18, of Bamungaon and Barka Tudu, 20, of Lauripara, both in Chirang district. Two country made pistols, three live rounds, extortion receipt, two khukris, one mobile with two SIM cards were recovered from them.

Police apprehended a suspected NDFB-S linkmen identified as Milon Brahma of Dotma Sikhargaon in connection with extortion call made to the headmaster of Banargaon High school demanding Rs 5 lakhs in the name of NDFB-S today in Kokrajhar. Police said he was arrested and a case registered at Dotma police station with case number 28/15 u/s 120(b)/121(a)/122/387/506 IPC. Police said the arrested person confessed of his crime. 
BJP seems to have landed in trouble at least in the Koch Rajbangshi-dominated areas. The Biswajit Roy faction of the All Koch-Rajbongshi Students Union has threatened to ban BJP if it fails to ensure ST status for the ethnic community before the assembly polls. The student body has chalked out a series of agitation from August 5 in protest against the failure to ensure the ST status.Addressing a press conference in Kokrajhar on Sunday, the leaders of the student organization said they are fully prepared to launch BJP hatao campaign if the Centre fails to keep its promises.
