Much to a major boost for Congress in rank and file in Assam, Prashant Kishore has agreed to help the ruling party in the assembly polls March next year.

The brain behind the grand alliance in Bihar, who held a round of informal talks with Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi recently, left New Delhi for Guwahati on Thursday afternoon.

Sources told Assam Times in New Delhi that the poll Chanakya will hunker down with Tarun Gogoi and Rahul Gandhi on Friday to finalise the pre poll strategy when the Congress vice president will on a two days visit to the state on Friday.

"Gogoi recently talked to Prashant at the instance of Rahulji who agreed, in principle, to help Gogoi retain the power in Dispur," said a senior AICC leader.

Notably, former Chief Minister and AGP leader Prafulla Kumar Mahanta met Kishore in the capital on Tuesday evening and discuss the strategy an anti-Congress and anti-BJP wave in Assam. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar helped Mahanta met the poll strategist at the Bihar Bhawan in the evening.

Pramod Boro to take over as BTC chief

Guwahati: It's official. Gogoi's mortal remains consign to flames

Guwahati: The mortal remains of Tarun Gogoi consigned to the flames on Thursday three days after the former Chief Minister died of post COV19 complications at the Guwahati Medical College Hospital. JP Nadda suspends Guwahati visit

Guwahati: BJP president JP Nadda has deferred his two days visit to Guwahati ion Thursday and Friday in view of the demise of former Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi . According to state party leaders, Nadda will let the state BJP leadership know his rescheduled date very soon. Accompanied by central party observer Baijayant Jai Panda, JP Nadda was scheduled to arrive in Guwahati on Thursday to hold at least 14 party meeting ahead of 2021 assembly polls.
