NDFB(S) neutralised: Bishnoi

IGP (BTAD) Dr LR Bishnoi has claimed that the strength of the NDFB(S) militant outfit has now being seeing neutralised following strong counter insurgency operation carried out by security forces in the area since after December 23(2014) carnage and operation would be continued.

Bishnoi, on Thursday speaking reporters in Kokrajhar told that police administration  have come to successful in its operation with killing of 21 militant outfit cadres, 256 cadres were arrested in the region and recovered huge amounts of arms and explosives. Apart from the NDFB-S, 86 rebels belonging to various groups like Kamatapur Liberation Organisation (KLO), Rabha Viper Army (RVA), National Santhal Liberation Army (NSLA), Muslim Protection Tiger Force of Assam (MPTFA) etc were arrested in 2015. He said that there little numbers of NDFB(S) cadres are active with the organisation and they are moving in the several districts like Sonitpur,Udalguri,Baksa,Chirang.G Bidai,leader of the outfit organisation is escaping in Myanmar and some of his associates are hidding in the jungle areas along the Indo-Bhutan border,said Bishnoi.He has told that the CI operations against the militant outfits was intensified in the region after Adivasi masscre in 2014 December and strong operation would be continued in the area,Bishnoi added. He also claimed that jehadi elements trying to gain foothold in Lower Assam districts were nuteralised. He said 30 jehadis elements wee arrested and 22 nos of country made arms recovered in 2015.

He said the wanted NDFB-S leader B. Bidai is in Bhutan hiding in dense jungle along with 20-25 of his associates. He said security are continuing operation against the group and expressed confidence that Bidai would be arrested soon. He however said 4 nos of battalion of the outfit are still active. ‘3rd, 13th, 14th  and 16th Bn of the outfit are still active, he said.

Kokrajhar Superintendent  of Police SP Saikia there is crisis of food in the rebel camp as ration supply is stopped with all route blocked.

It need to be mentioned that during the CI operation in the 2015 last itself police administration able to arrest 185 militant linkmen of which 201 were jailed,recovered 15 nos of AK-56,10 nos of AK-47,two of M-16,one of Insus Riffle,183 Pistols,4910 ammunition,217 grenades,87 Kgs explosives,three nos of IED,two four wheeler,12 bikes,245 mobile handsets,cash 14 lakhs were recovered.

Security forces in Chirang arrested yet another NDFB(Songbijit) cadre from  Runikata Tinali on Tuesday a day after four cadres of this outfit were killed at an encounter.Identified as Simang Basumatary(Tobra) of Runikata Tinali under Runikata police station, he was arrested in the morning. Police seized a 7.65 pistol, two live bullets from his possession.
Kokrajhar police are believed to have received stunning revelations on an arms smuggling racket in BTAD after they arrested a person from Bimraguri on Monday night.But police officials are tightlipped on the revelations. Amaren Narzary (42), Chairman of Mahendrapur VCDC under Debargaon constituency in BTAD village was died on the spot at a road mishap on Thursday at Goskata in Kokrajhar.Narzary hailing from Gyanpuri Jharbari village was coming from Dotma via Goskata when he met head on collision with a Tata Sumo car. He leaves two sons and his wife. Debargaon block BPF and several organisations expressed deep mourn over his death.
The vice of protest against the arrest of Jaiklong Brahma refuses to die down.Hundreds of media people in Baksa district staged protest at Mushalpur on Wednesday demanding early release of the journalist alleging it an attack on the fourth pillar of democracy.Jointly organised by Baksa district All Assam Jouranlist Union,Juornalist Union of Assam, Bartajibi Sangha and Bodoland Journalist Union, the protest was joined by the All Bodo Students Union, Bodo Sahitya Sabha, Assam Sahitya Sabha, AASU and ABWWF.

Gopal Chandra Basumatary is no more. The president of All BTAD Gaonburah Association breathed his last at his resident Kashibari in Kokrajhar on Saturday. He was 68. He is survived by his wife, son and daughters. The BTAD administration observed half holiday in four districts following death of Gopal Chandra Basumatary. BTC Chief Hagrama Mohilary and ABSU Promod Boro condoled the death of the leader and conveyed their deep sympathies to the bereaved family.
At least three persons sustained serious injuries when a Bolero and Tata Sumo collided head on at Balajan Tiniali near CIT campus in Kokrajhar Friday. An unregistered Bolero used by army jawans located at Patarghat came face to face with a Tata Sumo bearing registration number AS 16 9849 when it was on its way to deliver Sal logs to the CIT Kokrajhar campus along with two labourers. Family members of arrested television journalist Jaiklong Brahma alleged that police has not yet made medical care available to him. His wife Citra Brahma claimed that her husband suffers from high blood pressure and diabetes. "He is bereft of medical attention. More so, he is held up in an unhygienic lockup," she said. She demanded medical facility for Brahma and that he be kept in a suitable room. Citra Friday filed a petition seeking immediate medical facility and health care. Kokrajhar correspondent for News Live, Brahma was arrested on September 2 under suspicion of aiding the banned NDFB (S). He is presently under five days police remand.
