Indo-Bhutan Friendship mela concluded
The Subankhata Magh Mela cum Indo-Bhutan Friedship Mela was concluded after eight-day long scheduled programme at Subankhata in Baksa district today.
The mela has a significance step while bridging the relationship in between Bhutan and India with exchanges of cultural integration in the region,extremely north of Baksa district along the Bhutan border.
Stalls from various parts of the state as well from Bhutan participated in the mela,besides arranging ethnic food facilities for the visitors.
‘The mela has been organising every year to creating good relation in between India and Bhutan in the border areas of the state since long years.Irrespective of caste,creed and language were participated and different cultural demonstrations have also displayed during the mela’, said a mela organiser.

Police claimed to have killed a dreaded KLO militant at an encounter in Kokrajhar district on Friday amid stepped up security in the run up to the Independence Day.Identified as Rabi Roy, the KLO militant was killed as he was trying to plant a bomb on a railway track. The rape incident runs into a hail of protest across Kokrajhar district on Tuesday. The All Bodo Women Welfare Federation staged two-hour sit in demonstration in protest against gang raped of a 19 - years - old woman in Kochugaon allegedly by two army jawans in the wee hours. Hundreds of women activist and local residents joined the demonstration with banner, placard and festoons in front of DC office demanding early arrest of the culprits.
