YouthFi got launched on 16 April 2016 at Luira Restaurant (Defence Colony, New Delhi) with the concept of focusing on economic empowerment and social development for the underprivileged youths from NorhtEast India in Delhi.
YouthFi will offer greater job opportunities for the youths of NorthEast. It will play key role in facilitating youths from various communities from NorthEast in joining the workforce in Delhi to drive economic growth and community development informed an official statement.
YouthFi has environment and climate action as key area focus under their social development plan. It will create platform for people to participate in dialogue, group discussion in spreading awareness on environment and climate issues and actions.
The Founding Director of YouthFi, Khathing Ronrei, said, “We are absolutely excited to have the project launched in Delhi. This is probably one of the first robust peer to peer platform for the youths to access employment. This is a fantastic opportunity for potential people, business partners who has got that drive and leadership with strong partnership in achieving our goal. Delhi is our first business leg and we will be expanding.”
The startup’s two other founding members stressed on YouthFi’s innovative resourcing solutions to connect job providers and job seekers as a recruitment consultant in offering guidance and quality mentor-ship to candidates. The Launch saw a footfall of 50 influencers, well wishers and like-minded professionals.
Under their annual plan for 2016, YouthFi plans to organize Road to Conclave, a Youth Conclave for dynamic young youth leaders, passionate startups, across industries, across platforms, across capacities from NorthEast in Delhi in partnership with NorthEast Student groups and organizations and businesses.
A significant milestone for literature from Northeast India has been marked with the publication of The Yellow Metaphor, a collection of poems by Assamese poet Jiban Narah, now released by Penguin Random House India.
The book is a translated anthology of Narah’s poetry and is considered a rare achievement for the region. It is reportedly the first translated poetry collection by a single poet from Northeast India to be published by Penguin, and among only a handful of works in a regional Indian language to receive such recognition from the global publishing house.

Guwahati, Feb 28: The Assam government’s decision to seek a 5 per cent stake in Oil India Limited (OIL) has triggered discussion on the State’s long-term approach to the oil and gas sector in the Northeast.
The proposal, under which Assam has sought a minority share in OIL — where the Government of India holds 56 per cent — will be examined by the Centre, Union Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said.
