Classes suspended for storm affected schools

All classes were suspended at Chechapani ME School on Tuesday, hardly one and half kilometer adjacent to Kokrajhar district administration following school roof and building ruined by rain-stormy on Monday, besides guardian and teachers expressed resented over insincerity from district administration into situation. On the other hand, district administration told that concern authority has been taking serious note about the incident.

Students of the school were deprived from classes following classes were suspended, which was totally lashed out by rain stormy. The incident took place yesterday around 11 am at Chechapani ME School where around 100 students are studying under Kokrajhar block elementary education. The school building roof and barandhas were ruined due to heavy rain and stormy when the teachers teaching the school children inside the class room. The rain-storm totally lashed out CIC sheet roof and barandhas of the school, damaged with wet several properties included official document, books, ceiling fan etc. However, students were safe unhurt taking shelter nearby LP school building.

Local resident, social organization and students expressed resented over the insincerity attitude towards restoration of school building that was lashed out by stormy, although the school authority intimated to the higher authority about incident 24 hours ago.

Najrul Islam, ABMSU leader said that the roof of school and materials were totally ruined yesterday for heavy rain and stormed that created resented in the area.

‘It is a grave concern matter that district administration and education department are not initiating to restore the incident. The classes in the school were suspended following ruined of building roof and damages of school materials’, Islam adding demanded district administration should take stern step to repair school infrastructure.

‘We were deprived from classes today following school building was disrupted for rain and stormed yesterday’, said a student in the school.

Monowar Hussain, head teacher of the school said he had intimated to the concern district education authority just after the incident yesterday, but yet no any measure was seeing till today. The classes have been suspended for the day due to building affected by rain and stormy, he said.

‘We intimated to the higher authority about incident yesterday, yet no measures were seeing so far to the school. Several important document, books and infrastructural were damaged in the rain. We hope the district administration and education department will look after the affected school building’, Hussain said.

Madhav Prasad Sarma, Kokrajhar Deputy Commissioner said that district administration has instructed education department to take measure to restoration of classes in the school.

‘We have been taking measure to restoration of classes from the district administration so that the students could not face with crisis in the school. The disruption of school building roof by rain-stormy would be restored immediately and the classes would be continued from tomorrow’, Sarma said.
