The 61 battalion of the Seema Sasastra Bal (SSB) distributed orange saplings among the villagers at Boha in Arunachal Pradesh as a part of its community welfare programme recently. The SSB jawans also planted orange saplings in the hilly tracts as to encourage the people to shift their attention to alternative cultivation from the cultivation of cannabis. The SSB battalion has been trying to convince the people to give up the business of narcotics for their better future.
The community welfare programme organised at Boha village was attended by ADC Kalaktang Hage Lailang and urged the villagers to assist the SSB officials so that they can help the villagers shun the cultivation of cannabis.
He also appraised the efforts of SSB troops. Om Prakash, the commandant of 61battalion, SSB, elaborated the aims and objectives of the programme. The programme was anchored by KR Lemror, the Deputy Commandant of 61 battalion, SSB.
As a part of the community welfare programme, the SSB also provided free medical check-up and distributed free medicines among the needy people of the area.
