Luitpar Club in Narengi Campus of Oil India Limited recently organized a unique initiative for encouraging reading habit among the residents, primarily the young people in the colony. The club supplied various books in Assamese, English, Hindi and Bengali language to the households under Rasaraj Lakshminath Bezbaruah mobile library.
The program was launched by journalist Nava Thakuria on 21 July in presence of Luitpar Club president, its secretary Narayan Majumder, senior members including Padmeswar Kalita, Haren Sarma, Jadav Kalita, Tapas Bhattacharya, Hira Rajbongshi etc.

The Gauhati High Court has asked the government to clear two animal corridors of the Kaziranga National Park within two months which will affect over 350 families. Hearing a PIL by Mrinal Kumar Saikia, a division bench of the court acting Chief Justice K Shredhar Rao and Justice PK Saikia asked the government to clear Bandordubi and Deusurchang from illegal settlers within two months. According to government document, Bandordubi area alone has at least 168 families in addition to 190 other families are residing in Deusur area. Despite the court order for clearing the areas the government failed to follow it citing technical and natural reasons.
The Mizoram police have arrested a person more than a week after he kidnapped a minor girl in Aizawl. The girl was rescued his captivity on Sunday. The 53 year old man allegedly kidnapped the 7-year-old girl from Harinagar village on October 3 from a hospital where the girl’s mother was undergoing treatment.
