The protest over the refugee status to the Bangladeshi Hindu nations gathers momentum when KMSS leaders started staging fast unto death in Guwahati on Monday.
Led by Akhil Gogoi, many KMSS activists thronged beside the Dighalipukhuri at 10 in the morning and the started the fast unto death saying that Assam will not be allowed to be a dumping ground of the Bangladeshi nationals.
Talking to Assam Times, KMSS leaders said, “This is not the way. Why Assam is allowed to be a dumping ground. We the people are not prepared to bear the burden of more Bangaldeshi people. We are ready to face any eventuality.”
KMSS leader Akhil Gogoi is believed to have been trying to rope in more and more organizations, giant leaders and intellectuals to oppose the Centre’s move to accord refugee status to the neighbouring nationals.
