Hagrama, Mahanta face ire
BTAD chief Hagrama Mohilary faced no less wrath of the local residents in Balajan as he visited Balajan on Sunday two days after 14 people died in militant attack at an open market.
As Mohilary and Prafulla Kumar Mahanta reached the incident site, local residents in large number staged huge protest demanding safety and security.
They rued before the duo that utter lawlessness prevails in the entire area and even the security forces have not been able to build confidence.
“Nobody knows who would kill us. We might be killed at any time. Who will ensure our safety?,” the panic stricken people in Balajan told Hagrama Mohilary and Mahanta.
Both they tried to quell the agitated people. But they alleged lawlessness and an insecured situation in the BTAD areas.

KOKRAJHAR: Forest department in Chirang, seized several numbers of tractors and trucks which were carrying illeglly felling sal timbers from Selekaguri, Shantipur, Deosri area under Runikata forest range on Thursday in Chirang district.
The seized timbers are kept now at Runikata forest range office.
Recently,forest department officials have seized a large number of smuggling timbers at Kachugaon in Kokrajhar district.
The seized timbers are valued at Rs.20.
The forest department has been taking stern measures to check timber smuggling in the region and necessary deployments are made so far, said a senior forest official in BTAD.
KOKRAJHAR: Sangbadik Parishad, Assam of Kokrajhar district unit has decided to organise an workshop on journalism and a medical camp in October in Kokrajhar district.
An executive meeting of the parishad was held on Thursday at Kokrajhar Press Club with Hantigiri Narzary, president of the Kokrajhar district unit of the parishad in the chair.
The meeting discussed at length on the welfare and security of the journalists in the state and decided to work for the welfare and uplift of the media fraternities.
The meeting was attended by senior journalist, office bearers of the parishad.
KOKRAJHAR: A buyer-seller meet was organized at Girls College auditorium hall in Kokrajhar on Thursday. The meet was organized under the Assam agricultural business rural transportation (APART) by project ATMA Kokrajhar.
The meet has emphasized to build a healthy co-relation among buyer and sellers while bringing fruitful business opportunities in the marketing field in BTAD region.
Nodal officer, Mudiram Patari told that the meet is stressing to gain good relationship among buyer and sellers in the region.

KOKRAJHAR: Six students from Bangladesh took admissin in various educational institutes in Kokrajhar. The students are from Khagrachhari ditsrict of Bangladesh and belong to the Bodo community.
The students offered their Bathou prayer at Bathou Thansali and expressed happiness fro their forthcoming academic journey in Kokrajhar.

A 17-year-old youth has died and another his colleague was rescued after drowning at Hell River at Fakiragram in Kokrajhar.
The incident took place on Sunday evening at Dhopertal village along the Hell River.
The duo hailed from Maligaon Guwahati visited their reltives house at Fakiragram. They went to the Hell River to have a bath in the afternoon and met the mishap.
Local police and SDRF team rushed the spot after the incident recovered one body and another one rescued.
The rescued has rushed the Kokrajhar RNB civil hospital for medical treatment after rescued.

Kokrajhar: The Bodo Sahitya Sabha (BSS) and Bodo community recalled contributions of Subungthini Thandwi Bineswar Brahma, former president of Bodo Sahitya Sabha, and his contribution towards upliftmentof the Bodo literary and language; on his 19th death anniversary at his burial place at Chandamari in Kokrajhar on Monday.
The anniversary was organized under the aegis of Bodo Sahitya Sabha (BSS) in association with Bineswar Brahma Charitable Trust to mark the occasion. Brahma was shot dead by armed extremist at his Bhetapara residence in Guwahati on 19th August in 2000 when he was president of the Bodo Sahitya Sabha.

Bodo sahitya sabha and Bodo peoples remembered former president of the Bodo Sahitya Sabha late Bineswar Brahma on his 19th death anniversary on Monday at his burial place Chandamari in Kokrajhar.
Brahma was shot by armed militant cadres at his Bhetapara residence in Guwahati in 2000.
