Nazira CPI joins protest

CPI leaders and activists in Nazira joined the statewide protest on Wednesday outlining the issues of price hike,   inflation, Flood and erosion.
Speakers in the protest meeting demanding immediate measures to mitigate the misery of the common people.
In his speech, national executive member   Kanak Gogoi said that the central government has been acting as an agent of the capitalists where the common people are bound to suffer.
He  said   the decision of the central government for 100% Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) will be a
threat to the Sovereignty and urged the people to resist the move.

PK Borthakur appointed ONGC Director (offshore)

An illustrious son of Assam, Pronip Kumar Borthakur has assumed the charge of Director (Offshore) of the Oil and Natural Gas Commission (ONGC) on October 31, 2012. Borthakur has formally taken over the operational responsibility of the prestigious role from Sudhir Vasudeva, CMD, ONGC. Having a formidable professional experience of 35 years with ONGC, Borthakur has spent 24 years at the helm of various sections and groups in the organization.

Guardians stage dharna againat DPS, Nazira

A large numbers of local guardians of DPS Nazira staged a dharna in front of the Head office of ONGC, Nazira on October 31, 2012. The allegation is that the school is going to abolish the Assamese subject from the school and exploiting the teacher, staff and students. The school also dropped Magh Bihu from their Holidays list of 2012.

National Press Day at Nazira on Nov 16

In association with the Civil Administration of Nazira sub-division the Freelance Journalist Association of Nazira will observe the National Press Day with a day long programme at M.C.Club Nazira on November 16. Keeping in view the significance of a free and vibrant media with social accountabilityin a democratic country a Seminer is organise on the concept of the " Freedom of Media " and it is the suggested theam of the Press Counsil of India for the National Press Day-2012. Eminent writer Punya Saikia and Deepali Sarmah Bhattachaya will attend in the function as the guest of honour and chief guest. A state level essay competion on Assamese Language is also organise by the organisers....

New society formed at Nazira

A group of local residents of Nazira has formed a society called "Human Welfare Society" with a 13-member committee. P.C. Baruah and Md. Nasar Khan were selected as the President and General Secretary of the Society. The group has been extending their services since last 2006 for medical treatment to mentally retired persons n Nazira sub-division apart from other social welfare works.

Children Drama Workshop at Nazira

Pragati Maina Parijat, Nazira organised a 15-day Children's Drama Workshop on July1 to 15, 2012 at Srimanta Sankardev Sanghs Namghar. More than 70 children took part in the workshop. In the concluding day, on on July 15 all the children staged a drama. Wellknown artist Netriyachaya, Padmashri Jatin Gushwami were present and he appriciated the efforts of the organisers.

Reporter assaulted at Bihubar, Nazira

Lakuwa reporter of Guwahati-based television chanel DY365, was physically assaulted by some miscreants at Bihubar, Nazira on Tuesday. They brutally attacked him and smash his camera. Different organisations including the Press Guild of Simaluguri, Nazira District Journalist Association, AASU, AJYCP, Amar Kotha Group, NGO PRAGATI etc. condemned the attack and demanded immediate arrest of culprits.

Voter list preperation begins at Nazira

Voter list preparation with photo identifiction card is going on at Nazira sub-division. In this connection the administration organised a training programme from March 12 to 14, where 11 nos. Assistant Registers and 3 Nos Special Supervisor were participated. P.K.Das S.D.O.(Civil), Nazira sub division and Anil Das, election officer of Nazira requested the all trainees to work sincerly in preperation the voter list.
