Couple held for trafficking
A couple was apprehended from Karigaon under Kokrajhar PS for allegedly human trafficking cases by Nedan NGO and AASAA activists on Wednesday.
According to police,the couple was arrested when they reach along with trafficked girl to return her at Karigaon,who trafficked girl in October last year.
The couple was identified as Ramesh Yadav and Chumki Murmu,hailed from Islampur of Dinajpur of West Bengal state.The couple has been involved with human trafficking from the region since few years back, a NGO activist in Kokrajhar.
‘Interrogation is on them and expected more inputs about trafficking will become out’, said an AASAA activist.

Brahma was suffering from japanese encephalitis and was under going treatment at a private nursing home in Guwahati for the couple of weeks. Kokrajhar: Poisonous oil and waters released from NTPC project in Salakati, Kokrajhar damages huge areas of crops along the Salakati area in Kokrajhar district. Kokrajhar,Aug 9: Security forces belonging to Assam Police and Indian army recovered catche of arms and ammunition from Uttarkuchi in Baksa district on Thursday. A joint team of Indian Army and Assam Police recovered an AK 56 rifle along with ammunitions from Uttarkuchi during a search operation on Thursday morning. KOKRAJHAR: A Python was rescued at Sesapani Nwlwbari near Magurmari forest beat office in Kokrajhar on Sunday.According to Sesapani villagers, the Python was found at a fishing pond near Magurmari forest beat office and rescued by villagers .Later,villagers handed it over to the forest department.The rescued reptile weighed eight kgs and was nearly nine feets in length.
