NDFB-S cadre held

Security forces belonging to Assam Police and Army arrested, at a join operation arrested a cadre of NDFB-S from Patabari area under Runikhata PS in Chirang district on Wednesday . The cadre was identified as Swmkhwr Kaklary alias K Saiklom. An Insus riffle, magazine and 60 live rounds recovered from  him.

Girls drowned in river, Longa

  KOKRAJHAR:  In a tragic incident two young girls were reportedly drowned in Longa River under Dotma Police Station at Maoriagaon village in Kokrajhar on Saturday evening. While one of the girl’s body was recovered on Sunday at Bagribari area under Gauripur PS in Dhubri district, the other is yet to be fished out. "We have intensified rescue operation to trace the other body." , said an SDRF official. Dokmoka mob lynching : Candle light vigil in Kokrajhar

Kokrajhar: Hundreds of students from different schools and colleges held a candle light vigil in front of the Bodoland University today in protest against the Dokmoka incident.  The students shouted slogans and demanded strict punishment to those involved in the lynching of two youths--Nilotpal Das and Abhijit Nath. The students also urged the government to take stern measures against the rumor mongers in the social media.   

Felicitation programme

Kokrajhar: Seven students who came out with flying colours in the last Higher Secondary High School Leaving Certificate examinations from Kanthalguri village in Kokrajhar were felicitated by the Kanthalguri Village Committee here on Sunday. Each student was felicitated with traditional Aronai and gift items in a programme held at Udangshri Club.  Nayan Mushahary was the chief guest of the felicitation programme chaired by Motilal Mushahary.   

DTP systems distributed in Kokrajhar

Kokrajhar:  About twenty women entreprenurs were given away desktop publishing (DTP) system in Kokrajhar on Tuesday. BTC executive member Rajib Brahma handed over the DTP and some other materials among the beneficiaries in the presence huge attended gathering. The DTP  systems were given away from the SC development Corporation of the state government. Chairman of the Kokrajhar SC development board Sanjoy Majumder told that the beneficiaries are selected by development board to proivide computer based service and social upliftment in the area.
