NDFB-S cadre held

Security forces belonging to Assam Police and Army arrested, at a join operation arrested a cadre of NDFB-S from Patabari area under Runikhata PS in Chirang district on Wednesday . The cadre was identified as Swmkhwr Kaklary alias K Saiklom. An Insus riffle, magazine and 60 live rounds recovered from  him.

AAMSU slams state government

Kokrajhar: The All Assam Minority Students Union (AAMSU)  slammed the state government as well district administration for not allowing the students union to stage protest against D-voters issue in the state.  AAMSU was supposed to stage a protest against government over D-voters’ issue in Kokrajhar town near Children Park. Hundreds of students union and minority people gathered at the venue, but district administration refrained them from holding protest rally. The students union strongly condemned the district administration's decision and demanded early closure of the D voters cases while making succesfull update of the final draft of NRC  in the state.    

Northeast Kickboxing champ from July 12

KOKRAJHAR: Preparations are on final touch to organise the 3rd Northeast Kickboxing championship-2018 scheduled to be held from July 12 next at SAI centre ground in Kokrajhar. The sports event has been organised by BTC Kickboxing Association to create sporting environment in the region. Small tea growers decries government apathy

Flood engulfs 13 villages in Kokrajhar

KOKRAJHAR:  The continuous downpour has turned into a grim situation in Kokrajhar district as 13 villages under Bhawraguri revenue circle have been engulfed by flood affecting the populace. A total of 45 people of Mukuldang No. 1 (Harinpur) village were rescued on Wednesday by Fire and Emergency Services under Gossaigaon sub-division in the district. One drowns in Hela river

KOKRAJHAR: A 55 year old person identified as one Bhaidhya Oraon,who was reportedly drowned at Hel River was recovered at Singimari village under Fakiragram PS in Kokrajhar district on Tuesday.The incident took place at Singimari village on Monday evening. A joint team of police, SDRF and local people started search operation to fish out the body since early morning and retrieved the body. The person was missing after he went  for fishing. The family members of the deceased identified the body which was later sent for post-mortem.

KOKRAJHAR:  The Chirang district magistrate, Ratul Barua has detailed its additional district magistrate and incharge Bijni sub- divisional officer (civil) , Gakul Chandra Brahma for conducting magisterial inquiry into the death of one person namely Nikhil Mandal, son of Lt. Ashwini Mandal of village No.1 Bishnupur under Panbari Police Station in Forest Custody at Panbari Forest Rance office on May 5 this year.
