NDFB (S) informer held

Police apprehended a suspected over ground worker/sympathizer of NDFB-S identified as Paulina Basumatary 22, wife of a NDFB-S cadre Compounder alias Khaose from No 1 Nandipur village under Kachugaon police station in Kokrajhar district .

Police said Rs 15,000 (extorted from Audung Bazar area) have been recovered from her possession which was supposed to be handed over to NDB-S cadre.

She was working as a channel of communication between the NDFB-S cadres and over ground worker in that area through her husband. She has been playing a very important role in siphoning off extortion money to the outfit in Myanmar through the OGWs/sympathisers.

Needy families out of the reach of NFSA

Three arrested in murder case

 The Kokrajhar police arrested three people accusing them of killing   Thomas Tirki of Dholmara Salakati on August 20, 2017.  They were arrested under case register with Kokrajhar PS No.525/17U/S 302 IPC, dated 22nd August, 2017. They are identified as Rajesh Urao, Mathias Urao and Tulshi Urao,who are hailed from Choibari area of Dhubri district.Police carried out search operation against the incident since after murder case. They allegedly murdered Thomas with Dao and sharp weapons as accused have confessed the incident,said a senior police officer in Kokrajhar.

Sankardev tithi in Kokrajhar

Hundreds of devotees and followers observed the death anniversary of saint Shankardev with traditional religious fervour on Wednesday. Many people thronged the Kokrajhar Namghar complex to observed the occasion. The Kokrajhar Namghar Parichalana Samiti organized the occasion to observe the death anniversary of the neo Vaishnavite giant.  Nayanmoi  Das,organizer said,” we remembered the saint  on his death anniversary who had contributed lots towards the uplift of social, religion, language and literary in the state of Assam.”

Food stock is sufficient: Rihon

Assam Minister for food and civil supply Rihon Daimary claimed that the state has sufficient food stock in the post flood situation to deal citizens in the state.  Daimary is on a visit to Kokesjhar and held a review meeting with MLAs,BTC executive members,BTC principal secretary,Deputy Commissioner,Kokrajhar,officials in the presence of Commissioner.  He took stock about food stock in the region post flood. Gramin Dak Sevak stage indefinte strike

Hundreds of Gramin Dak Sevaks staged indefinite strike in front of the Kokrajhar Head Post Office on Monday under the banner of the All India Gramin Dak Sevaks Union(AIGDSU),Kokrajhar district branch of the union seeking solutions of the various grievances of the Dak Sevaks across the country,which included implement the Gramin Dak Service(GDS) committee report including modification suggested by AIGDSU.  Nearly 1100 gramin dak sevaks under Goalpara division,Dhubri have been engaged in the postal department to make service for rural areas. Five NDFB-R members join BPF

Five more NDFB-Ranjan Daimary faction members joined BPF on Monday. They  include a seargent major who joined the regional party at a programme held at Bodoland Guest House in Kokrajhar.  They are Hitun Narzary(seargent major), Nerswn Narzary, Ripok Narzary, Abhimanya Boro and Gwmjwr Narzary. Bodo organizations stick to Bodoland

Various Bodo organizations in BTAD have announced a series of fresh agitation to revive the struggle for a separate Bodoland.  These include ABSU and its allied groups NFFB, NDFB-P and PJACBM who are prepared to mount pressure on thr Centre with series of agitation from August 28 in the form of national highway blockade, mass hunger strike etc. The agitation was finalized at a joint meeting at the Bodofa House on Sunday in Kokrajhar where the leaders pledged to go all out for the demand.  ABSU president Promod Boro said  they would demanded sn early solution of the issue through political dialogue. Bodos remember Bineswar Brahma

The Bodo Sahitya Sabha (BSS) remembered Subungthini Thandwi Bineswar Brahma, former president of Bodo Sahitya Sabha, paying floral tribute at burial place o his 17th death anniversary  in Kokrajhar on Saturday. Brahma was shot dead by armed extremist at his Bhetapara residence in Guwahati on 19th August in 2000 when he was president of the Bodo Sahitya Sabha. Two bodies recovered

Two accidental deaths in two different places sent no less shock in Kojrajhar on Friday. The first one took place at Islampur where a woman  was  electrocuted to death.     According to police, one Rashida Bibi (35) wife of  Wajj Ali of Islampur village Kazigaon in Kokrajhar district died of electricution.The incident took place around 5:30 am in the morning as she went to the nearby electric post where she has been electrocuted.  In separate incident in Chirang, a body was found floating on the Champawati River at Basugaon of Chirang district. Appointment letters distributed

Altogether 80 teachers  received appointment letters for the post of headteacher and assistant headteacher in High Schools at a programme held at BTC secretariat conference hall in Kokrajhar in Friday. The appointment letter was issued by education department of BTC. Seventy three was appointed as headteacher and seven are as assistant headteacher in the four districts of BTAD.
