NH blocked for separate Bodoland

Road communication along the 31C National Highway was disrupted today for five hours following All Bodo Students Union (ABSU), NDFB (P) and Peoples Joint Action Committee for Boroland Movement (PJACBM) blockade the highways demanding early creation of Bodoland separate state under Article 2 & 3 of Indian constitution, ensure of political rights to the Boro peoples outside of proposed Bodoland.

The blockade was passed off peacefully at 11 am after beginning at 6 am as long distance going truck,bus,transport vehicles stranded at different places in the lower Assam districts.

Thousands of Bodo peoples from all walks of life throng at Karigaon along National Highway with banner,placards in Kokrajhar district and shouted slogans-‘Divide Assam 50/50,No Bodoland No Rest, We want Bodoland,We want justice etc which created waves in the sky.

The ABSU and its allied organizations also blockade National Highways at various places across the state to put pressure government to create Bodoland separate state within Indian constitution. In the blockade agitation, leader and activists from different organizations participated, which included Garo Students Union,Dularai Bodo Harimu Afad,Literary Organisation,UPP(L),former MP Urkhao Gwra Brahma,BTC MCLAs were prominent participants.

Lawrence Islary, general secretary of ABSU slammed the BJP led NDA government said that government has been declining Bodoland issue who had promised to solve Bodoland issue during their 2014 parliamentary elections.BJP party has now forgotten their assurance while bringing solutions of hopes and aspiration of Bodoland issues. He has warned to take strong more mass agitation if their demands are not in earliest manner.

“We again step to the mass agitation because government has yet to take solution decision over Bodoland state issue. We will continue our agitation till achieved Bodoland separate state”, said Islary.

He said that the joint movement group had been optimistic on the dramatic gesture of the national leadership of BJP that half century long crisis would be resolved through a pragmatic guiding principle as there was a slogan of ‘Pribartan(change) and acche Din anne walle hain’ in the sky of the entire country before they are coming to power.

“The Bodo movement organizations met national leadership like Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh,Khiren Rijiju etc repeatedly for last two and half years. The organizations also met Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and then union minister for many times and appealed him to resume the tripartite talk with the Bodo organizations for permanent peace and solution of the unsolved Bodo issue. However, concern authorities of the highest democratic nation has been completely ignoring ad undermining the issue as they are engaging in political conspiracy to exploit the marginalized groups and communities of the country whom they promised to deliver an equitable governance and justice after more than half century of Congress rule in the centre’,Islary said.

The students union and allied organizations decided to renew the democratic movement for creation of Bodoland state from August 30 with blockade national highway for five hours of NH 15, 31,31C and 37.There will be close of business establishment and Road bandh again in the month of September and Rail blockade within October and Maha Rally in New Delhi in November next followed continuous movement programmes. The government of India will be responsible for any untoward incidents during the movement programmes,the students union leader added.

B Sudem,NDFB(P) leader and Garjan Mushahary,deputy chief convenor, PJACBM termed that government never think welfare for Bodo and other tribals in the country that is why they have been deprived from developmental aspects in the country.

They said that Bodoland separate state is the ultimate goal of the mass agitation until and unless Bodoland was created. They urged the BJP led NDA government to take bold step while creation separate Bodoland state to meet good governance in the region.

Urkhao Gwra Brahma,former MP and UPP(L) president said that government should response on mass movement as Bodo peoples come out to the democratic movement for seeking separate Bodoland state.He has urged the government to take stern measures while creating small states across the country to meet healthy and good governance in the country.
