NDFB-P observes martyrs’ day

The National Democratic Front of Boroland (NDFB) observes its 28th national Martyrs Day at different places today to mark sacrifices of cadres of the militant outfit organization for the cause of Boroland state issues. NDFB-Progressive observed the day at three designated camps, which included Kumguri in Kokrajhar, Barbari in Baksa and Sapkaiti in Udalguri district. NDFB-Ranjan Daimary faction observed at Odla Kashibari in Udalguri district. While NDFB-Songbijit faction observed in Myanmar foreign country. The NDFB has been observing the martyr’s day since 1988 on the death day of B Bangburgwra, then area commander of the militant outfit, was killed by security forces on today's day in 1988.

In Kokrajhar, B Benga, speaker of NDFB-P hoisted organizational flag in half, Lawrence Islary, general secretary of ABSU lighted the lamp on the occasion, B Jaikolong vice president of NDFBP paid rich floral tribute to the martyrs’ tomb.

S Sanjarang, publicity secretary of NDFB-P slammed the government for not taking stern step to the solution of Boroland state and issues of NDFB problems. He said that the militant outfit reached ceasefire with government since June, 2005 to meet healthy solutions on the issues of Boroland state. The militant outfit took up arms to seek separate Boroland state since 1986 and made ceasefire for reaching main stream. He has urged govt to take strong measures to the Boroland issues. He has expressed resented over government for not taking any suitable measures while bringing solution of Boroland state and NDFB problems, for which why militant outfit fought any government.

He also slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who had promised to solve Boroland issue during 2014 parliamentary elections in the state. He has urged government to fulfill commitments kept during election manifesto in Assam.

"We are waiting good response from government as they promised to the Boroland issue, but today we are seeing govt has yet to step good positive. Congress led UPA govt had interested on Boroland issue with emphasized of solution ways. BJP led NDA govt has not been taking good step to the issues. Solve Boroland issue through way of Mizo solution way of 1986 settlement and sustain good situation.We want early solution of separate Boroland state and NDFB issues through political way. The govt has been tactically delayed the peace process. Govt should initiate for early solution of Boroland issues",Sanjarang said. Lawrence Islary, general secretary of ABSU demanded early solution of Boroland issue to meet healthy and good governance in the region.

“We recalled contributions of martyr cadres,who sacrifice their lives for the cause of separate homeland. Over five thousand cadres of various militant outfits, organization and civilians lost their lives due to the movement for Boroland statehood.We are organizing mass agitation to put pressure government to the Boroland demands”, Isalry said.

KOKRAHAR: A sense of alarm has gripped the Jharbari area after a timber smuggler was discovered dead in a firing incident during the early hours of the morning in Kokrajhar. Apurna Narzary, an international women's football player, has been nominated for the Emerging Player award for 2022-23 by the Sports & Youth Welfare department of the government of Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR). Narzary has represented India in several international events and is the daughter of Biswajit Narzary of Khagrabari village in Kokrajhar district.
