Dukheswar Koch remembered

Rabha Sihitya Sabha and Rabha community recalled contributions of Dukjeswar Koch, founder president of All Rabha Sahitya Sabha towards literary field, on his 36th death anniversary at Magurmari High School in Kokrajhar district on Thursday. As part of progarmme scheduled,literary organizer and participants paid floral tribute to late Dukheswar Koch in the early morning, was organized by Reception Committee of Dukheswar Koch Death anniversary observation.

Mentioned be made that Dukheswar Koch was born in 1902 at Magurmari and died in 1980.He was a noted writer and founder president of Rabha Sahitya Sabha.

A memorial lecture on Dukheswar Koch was organized to mark the anniversary with Baren Chapar in the chair.

Amarsingh Koch, president of All Rabha Sahitya Sabha, Manabendra Rabha,president All Rabha Jatiya Parishad, Dhwajendra Nath Brahma, president of Kokrajhar district unit Bodo sahitya sabha, Indra Mahan Koch,noted social worker were prominent attendees on the occasion.

Amarsingh Koch, president of Rabha Sahitya Sabha said that Rabha community in the state is still today deprived in all fronts of aspects and developmental like education, social uplift.

‘Though Rabha community has own culture and language, but no medium of instruction, even though community organizations have been place demands for educational expectations in the state’, Koch said.

He has put demands of early creation of medium of instruction in the state to give proper development and integration as other communities are getting educational and social uplift. He disclosed that Rabha community organizations met Chief Minister and governmental officials to put pressure over granting medium of instruction in schools, but no any response was reached so far to the demands.

He has warned to take mass agitation if their demand and issues are meeting in earliest manner in days to coming.

A souvenir was also brought out on the occasion to mark the observation.

ABMSU along with several other organisations blocked the National Highway in several places in lower Assam districts on Saturday demanding Justice to Lafikul Islam Ahmed who was killed by unidentified on Aug 1 this month. :Forest department and SSB in a joint operation seized a truck carrying smuggled team logs  in Kokrajhar on Friday. The truck was intercepted at Sonapur Samsingkela area near Champawati River early in the morning. The smugglers were believed to have brought the timbers from nearby jungle to be seized by a joint team of forest department and SSB. An wagon R vehicle and two bikes were also recovered from the spot. No one was arrested so far.  'We have input about smuggling of Sal timbers via 31C National Highway late last night and followed the movement if the smuggling able to seized huge amounts of timbers ',said a senior forest department official.
A mysterious  death of a married woman triggers no less shock and controversy in Kokrajhar where local residents demand a probe to unearth. After two years of her marriage , he was found  dead at her husband's house under mysterious circumstances. Identified as Jahanara Begum of Baruapara in  Kokrajhar, she was believed to have committed suicide. Nearly 20 % percent beneficiaries are alleged to have been deprived  of the opportunity in the National Food Security Act(NFSA) in the four districts in  BTAD region.  The Kokrajhar police arrested three people accusing them of killing   Thomas Tirki of Dholmara Salakati on August 20, 2017.  They were arrested under case register with Kokrajhar PS No.525/17U/S 302 IPC, dated 22nd August, 2017. They are identified as Rajesh Urao, Mathias Urao and Tulshi Urao,who are hailed from Choibari area of Dhubri district.Police carried out search operation against the incident since after murder case.
